My Bionic has been showing Error - No available work to process for the past 4 days. Any progress? I just recently rejoined seti@home and was hoping to rack up some computer crunching, but I only got 2-3 days of work in.

Repost of some info I posted in the Panic Mode thread in NC.........

Have been in contact with Eric. He confirms my suspicion that it looks like something has gone wrong with the assimilators and/or file deletion tasks.
Thus, the storage space is getting full, which in turn throttles splitting activity.

He has notified Matt, Jeff, and Dr. Anderson. Don't know if anything can be done tomorrow, or if it shall have to wait until Tuesday, but everybody is aware and it shall be addressed as soon as possible.

Hang in there with the kitties, folks. Help is on the way.

Not quite. Here's the dent our donors have made in the past few months:

I don't see what any of that has to do with providing a timely update on outages.

Sure, a nice new server would be great and all, but i think the effort required to get notices out in and of itself would be minimal and doable even for someone sitting at home on a sofa, just using windows utilities.

They do remote in from home to fix problems, if they can be fixed that way. Keep in mind, however, that when they do this, it's on their own personal time. They don't get paid extra for it. And by the way, the whole project runs on some sort of unix. Don't insult them with Windows utilities.

After seeing Seti was back up and WU's were getting through, i took the time to go around to my PC's and revert them back over to Seti from E@home...

When you have 9 computers, that takes about half an hour. To set them all back takes another half hour...

A timely update could have saved me that aggravation, that's all I'm saying.

Every minute they spend telling us about a problem is a minute they don't spend on fixing the problem. Which do you think is more important?

You could even set up an alarm on trace32 monitoring the log to send a high priority email alert to a distribution list, or, if you are *super* lazy, you could set it up to post an alert to the message board itself...

Course, if you had a repeating failure, like an outage, that could result in spam posts, so probably best to have it alert a distribution list.

There are probably too many possible problems to set up automatic messages that would have any useful meaning to us. We'd quickly get just as frustrated with the generic "something is wrong, admins have been notified" message as we do now with no message at all.
