No doubt that Huhne will get a consultancy position within the Libs once out of jail...and get paid for it too. So you're saying that the "old boy network" no longer exists? |

I would think it very unlikely. Although I would imagine as he will be out in 4 months with good behaviour, his opinions may well be sought. Yes, on speeding issues and how do I best palm them points off. A standard pre worked out answer will be given in reply, "To the wife of course and most certainly not to the bit-on-the-side"!! It will be very foolish if the LibDems were to have any contact with Huhne once he's out of jail. The specific reason for this I will give you after the next General Election. Did you really think anything else? So asides from very silly limericks, just what do you expect to change within the system at your age? It's highly suspect when someone of your experience (that's if what you posted previously is correct), instead of sitting back & enjoying your retirement after all those years of hard work, entering politics so that you can help change the country for the better? Pull the other one it's got bells on! Nobody in modern societies enters politics to make changes - Ooops, I'd better chnage that statement, yes they do - increase to their personal income & to enter the history books at the expense of the taxpayers! |

So the imprisonment of MP's over the past 20 years were for non payment of parking fines? |

I think the Union can do without these so..... Amazing, one rule for politicians and one rule for us. Carry out an assault whilst at work and you will get dismissed, but if your an M.P. then it's brushed aside. He's done basically the same thing again this week, he's bringing politicians into disrepute so why is he not being forced to give up his seat. You do wonder for how long the system can survive, it's days have got to be numbered....surely. "After the hearing, the MP admitted he was lucky to avoid jail and said he was ‘deeply apologetic’" So maybe this time around, he can become Huhne's Cellmate for a few months..... Calls for Joyce to resign Hmmn, wonder if he's anywhere related to "that" other world famous Joyce? |

Or, he can resign and apply for the various Stewardships available to him, which of course will be granted. Why should they be granted? He's disgraced his consistuency & the Houses of Parliament. Time for him to go, no more perks at the taxpayers expense! |

for someone who "professes" to be English, you do not seem to understand the English language. It's not a matter of understanding parliament but understanding what is right. He's a convicted crinimal who committed the same crime again, imprison him, that should resolve the resignation syndrome! |

Again I state you have no understanding of the English language! Where did I state he was imprisioned? He was convicted of a criminal offence & fined £3000. That fine didn't change anything, he's still a convicted criminal! As He's done it again, he should be imprisioned You sure like teaching your grannie how to suck eggs....maybe you ought to teach Joyce how to do that is instead of headbutting people! Btw, isn't it past your bedtime child? Nighty night! |

Ah, so the first speeding ticket you get a fine and you are a convicted criminal, and on the second you get a custodial sentence. |

Depends on the seriousness of the crime, but yes it most cases anyway..... ..except when you're a politician...then the taxpayer pays the fine for you! |

@Gary, how do Members of the Houses of Representatives and Senators stand down or get removed? Some sort of Impeachment? House and Senate standing rules, they control who they seat as members. There isn't a process in the Constitution to remove them. IIRC a long time ago an article of Impeachment was voted upon one, but the process wasn't carried through with; as such no rulings were ever issued if such a power to impeach exists. It is much easier to do it through the standing rules anyway. |

Patrick McGoohan's favourite quote: - "I am not a number, I'm a free man!" Eric Joyce's famous quote: - I'm not an alcholic, I'm an M.P. Naw, prefer "The Prisoner" every time. |

@Gary, how do Members of the Houses of Representatives and Senators stand down or get removed? Some sort of Impeachment? I think the standing rule is if your a republican and get caught you have to resign. But if a democrat you can get a free pass. [/quote] Old James |

Eric Joyce's famous quote: - I'm not an alcholic, I'm an M.P. One of several I fear who do not set a good example and one of many who put their needs first before the electorates.
