Nice one John :-) It's just that the UK flea was on the dog first, and the dog is happy that it stays there. This other later flea makes it itch ... Wuff wuff |

I always find this sort of dispute reminding me of the two fleas on a dog's back, and arguing as to "who owns the dog". It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues

Argentina and UK have an issue in that the same property has two addresses and two different agreements. Which is valid? It comes down to possession is 9/10's of the law. The French (god help us) may have more claim than anyone else!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Falkland_Islands |

Gary, well, isn't that what both Spain and the Argentine want to do -- break existing international law? So I suggested, what if the UK 'pulled a Spain'. Said like a resident of a 19th century empire <smile>. Quite right too! Civilisation stops at Dover, and they eat babies North of Watford. Everyone knows that (in my street....) :-)) Thank you for confirming my suspicions! You can run down any nation but intensly dislike anyone running down "your" country? Tut, tut. No reply necessary in this thread! BTW, what is an "Uk"? Some form of unknown Spanish animal? Dunno Unsmoked Kipper? Back to the Premier Oil situation. I'm pretty sure that once that oilfield is fully developed & the "Argies" attempt an invasion, just watch the Yanks giving better assistance than they did in 1982! I doubt they will intervene overtly, maybe covertly....... |

So I suggested, what if the UK 'pulled a Spain'. The Uk considers itself a 21st Century Country, unlike the other one that still lives in the middle ages. Throwing live goats out of bell towers, stampeding frightened animals through the streets for entertainment, and deliberately torturing other animals to death in front of thousands of spectators, for public amusement. Nice climate and Port Wine, just a shame about the Spanish. |

Chris, next thing you know, Great Britain will get the Spanish disease and demand Hong Kong back from China (the residents there would likely be as happy the residents on Gibralter or the Falklands about being attached to the UK). WHY? You only rubbish them with silly replies! |

The lease was up and the landlord wanted the property for another use. You should have evacuated everyone and torn down all the buildings. Let the landlord have back what he gave you. |

Hong Kong was something a bit special to the British, just a shame. |

Losing "Honkers" to China for those of my age group, was a rather sad thing. In my view it should never ever have happened. I believe that there were over riding reasons to let it go, but I have not yet found any of them that stand up to scrutiny. Oh boy this is gonna be interesting.... It would be nice to have your own opinion for a change rather than just quoting others headlines .... |

Expect more huffing and puffing from Spain later over this. Just like Argentina, always bad losers, and an attempt to sidetrack the public away from internal problems. ooohhh, be careful Nick....someone might notice....... |

It's about time Spain came clean with it's country folk. Gaining Gibraltar is nothing compared to the whole of Spain being handed over to Brussels as part of the European States of Europe. This is the final solution, as the powers above wish it to turn out eventually, does Mr & Mrs González know this? The Kite Fliers -------------------- Kite fliers: An imaginary club of solo members, those who don't yet belong to a formal team so "fly their own kites" - as the saying goes. |

Gibraltar Gibraltar was captured in 1704, during the War of the Spanish Succession (1701–1714). Spain formally ceded the territory in perpetuity to the British Crown in 1713, under Article X of the Treaty of Utrecht. This was confirmed in later treaties signed in Paris and Seville. Spain later attempted to recapture the territory militarily by a number of failed sieges, and reclamation of the territory by peaceful means remains its government's policy. |

Agreed, of course it was, and she couldn't really have not done it, if she wants to retain her public backing. |

This looked good on the news last night. IMV, it was just a publicity stunt by Argentina to show their people that she is fighting their corner...what a muppet! Cameron confronts Kirchner |
