How will you get 12 GPUs in one system? Six dual chip GPU cards? Cooled by the ice chill of space and powered by a small star. SETI@home classic workunits: 93,865 CPU time: 863,447 hours Join the [url=http://tinyurl.com/8y46zvu]BP6/VP6 User Group[

... Although, checkout this system that someone built that has 7 GTX580s! Water cooled of course. That looks nicely done. Certainly shows the advantage of water cooling the GPUs. He says it was only built for a certain task. I wonder what that task is ? |

[quote]I understand that SSDs will wear out with the constant writing and deleting of those thousands of WUs. See: Intel's SSD 710: Making Enterprise Storage More Affordable? Thanks for that. I haven't been able to find the article i was thinking of, but here's a mention of SSD life expectancy as part of a review on a drive. Even allowing for write amplification you've got to do a lot of writing to wear out a drive. SSD writes- life expectancy. Grant Darwin NT |

I've been brainstorming what a project similar to Atlas Folder might look like using modern hardware and this is what I've come up: Motherboard: ASUS P8P67 WS REVOLUTION CPU: Intel Core i5-2500 CPU cooler: COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 EVO Memory: CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 PSU: 2x SeaSonic X Series X650 Video Card: 4x Asus GTX 590 Hard drive: Western Digital VelociRaptor 150GB Case: Custom build "Spotswood" stack-able tray OS: Windows 7 1 tray would run around $4K, but would be what I'd all the current Ultimate Cruncher. To do something the size of Atlas Folder project would run $24K and would be worlds faster since it was based on GTX 295s. My Computers: â–ˆ Blue Offline â–ˆ Green Offline â–ˆ Red Offline |
