For the last few hours i've been getting errors on Scheduler requests, or "No work sent" & "Project has no tasks available" messages. Looking at the network traffic there's been a few glitches there.

I started crunching Einstein units while waiting for the ap's to arrive. Since I hate to have my new computer not running at full speed. I am wondering if the SSE from Cruncher is the fastest way I can crunch the Einstein units.

I can't believe that in 3.5 hours no one has responded to the "Scotty clause" connection. I must be even older than I thought since even if you dont remember Star treck the original series, that was explained in one of the films (can't remember exactly which one, 107 I think). Beam me up!

I was just thinking of Mr. Scott in general, or maybe the scene in TNG: Relics where he asks LaForge how long his task will really take, then chews him out for telling the captain the actual time. "How are you going to make them think of you as a miracle worker if you tell them how long it will really take?" That's not an accurate quote, but it's something like that. I know he used the phrase miracle worker.

Depends on the version- SSE2 & SSEE3 are the older & slower instruction sets. SSSE3 is a more current one, SSE4 is the current one.

Do you mean the user who normally spells his name Crunch3r? He hasn't been active at Einstein for over three years, and so far as I know has never produced an Einstein application. He has recently changed his affiliation to the BOINC United team, and his old website re-directs to the team website at http://www.mpits.net. Their site hosts SETI and MilkyWay apps, but nothing for Einstein.

The Einstein stock application - for their Gravity Wave search, at least - uses SSE2 and hand-optimised assembler code in the hotloop. I don't know anything faster than that.

I would like to complain and whine about that we're soon running out of new AP's to split. I would also like to note that we're almost always running out of AP's, but very seldom running out of MB's.

Finally I would like to complain about all who whine and complain.

Back again, but with 2, out off 5 rigs, also the I7-2600+ 2x EAH5870 GPU's,
kept crashing.
Trouble started with BOINC complaining about too little diskspace, my 250GiG
WD BOOT disk, was split up, cause I installed LINUX (UBUNTU 11.10 x64)
A Seagate 500GiG Data Disk gave out, but a back Up, restored everything.

I installed BOINC (6.12.34;64bit) on a 3th disk, a HD103SJ (Samsung), 1TByte,
also had a second HD103SJ and a HD500, 500GByte BOOT disk.

I kept getting memory errors, messages like waiting for memory and
BSOD's which clearly indicate the 2 5870 GPUs, loaded in the highest adress
range, F0000000- F000AFFF. Also F000B000- F000CFFF.(?)
I'll edit the actual values.
So, I have to apologize to my wingmen/women, again, weren't much, some crashed and some will time out.
I'll edit this message, from the I7-2600, as I use the LT, for daily driver, but are
doing far more with the I7.
Till I find out what causes this, I don't install BOINC on it.
Besides the fact that very little work is available and only if your systems
turn in valid results and get credit, on a (very) regular basis, you won't easily get work, or just less work.

With so many powerfull rigs, well look at some RAC figures, which is nice and
OK, these rigs 'earned' their place, if there's a inconclusive and the WU has
to be sended to a 3th rig, no problem.

Only with a bandwidth of 100Mbit/sec , simply appeares to little, to fees all
those hungry monsters ;-)............

It seems like AP-splitters work faster than MB-splitters. Probably it would be better to change splitters from 5 MB - 6 AP to 6 MB - 5 AP.

Even working at the limits in place at the moment, that is less than a day to GPU empty status. I've been able to keep enough CPU work, but the GPU's run dry 2-3 times a week.

I hope the DCF issue gets sorted at some point, and the limits removed. The current situation has hobbled the most productive hosts for quite a while now.

Actually us Lunatics Alpha testers aren't in the same boat, we have access to a modded boinc 6.10.58 that helps a great deal with the wonky DCF,
(I do wish DA would incorporate the mod in regular boinc clients)

Having reasonable flops values in your app_info does almost the same thing, but takes more time for things to settle down.
