GRIPE:
UNKNOWN APP NAME IN APP_INFO.XML
error message

KUDOS TO THE PERSON THAT ELIMINATES THE SOFTWARE ROUNDABOUT AND causes THE NAME OF THE UNKNOWN APP AS IT APPEARS IN THE APP_INFO FILE to be automatically displayed. (That's because I don't know it myself.)
Thanks

The unknown app is the Astropulse V5 and this is what you should delete:
<app>
<name>astropulse_v5</name>
</app>
<file_info>
<name>ap_5.03r112_SSE3.exe</name>
<executable/>
</file_info>
<app_version>
<app_name>astropulse_v5</app_name>
<version_num>503</version_num>
<file_ref>
<file_name>ap_5.03r112_SSE3.exe</file_name>
<main_program/>
</file_ref>
</app_version>

Anyway, it seems you are using an outdated version of the optimized apps... You should upgrade to the last release...

Thank you Horacio, I appreciate your help.

I can't seem to log on to the source website to upgrade the optimized apps.

But thanks again, I will fix what I can.

Gripes that I don't like Boinc7 versions...and that my wife's Win7 system won't run the Flash component on either browser. Tried to update it--said it was already updated. I uninstalled Flash-rebooted-now says I can't install it because it's already there. AARRGGHH

Kudos for the good weather lately and good crunching on 6.10.58

Blurf, it seems there's a, problem with flash 11.3, no fix yet but there is a few work arounds.

Gripe: I've been hit by the same flash bug :(

Kudos: Since the astropulse splitter bug issue has been solved I've now got quite a few on board.

The latest client version is reluctant to download. There's almost no work left and the log keeps saying Not reporting or requesting tasks. Why not?
I upped the minimum to 6 days of work but it changes nothing. It's nice to download while I'm connected - not while there are 50+ hours available around the clock with no connection.
I guess if the next update fixes this, I'll be very reluctant to update the client.
I reckon this would be a gripe. (BTW rosetta has to be set No New Tasks because it's a hog.)

Because the way it handles the cache is different to v6. You need to change your cache settings. ie if they were 1 & 4 then you need to change them to 4 & 1.

Whenever I check the Server status, I see over 330,000 Results ready to send, but whenever I manually request an update, I see a message which says that I got 0 new tasks and Project has no tasks available.

Am I missing something? I haven't run out of WU's but I getting down there.

What is the exact message?

Also when the demand is high you just have to keep on trying, although I sometimes have problems my cache is currently full and staying that way so you shouldn't be having trouble at the moment.

"project has no tasks available" simply means that all the units (about 100/second) in the distribution queue have been allocated at the time of your request. BOINC will try again in 5 minutes; all you need is patience.

EDIT: We've been in the midst of a "shortie (VHAR) storm lately, therefore, demand is high and turnaround is quick, increasing the demand for work even more.

Yes, it solved itself. I guess BOINC just has to keep trying. I know I should leave it as a "set it and forget it" task, but it's hard to do that.

It happened again just now. I forced an update (to report one measly completed task) and once again, no tasks available but the Server status said over 300k were ready. So this explains it.

My only concern now is that BOINC / SETI Enhanced doesn't choose the tasks in due date order, but that's less crucial.

I'm migrating through a couple of "new" (refurb) XP boxes toward an Ubuntu / XP setup, with Linux as my desktop and XP as a (somewhat) remote machine. My (previous) "main" XP box is down and may not come up for more than a few minutes at a time, primarily for file extraction purposes. As a result, I now have two boxes actively crunching and both of them do two WUs at a time. My old box only did one.

Server status is a snapshot that updates every 20 minutes, there is a time for the snapshot top left. Depending on when the snapshot was the data you are seeing could be up to 20 minutes old.

Gripe; I have gotten only 475 000 credits since June 11, 2012, when I could have gotten over a million by now, had I known about super charging the S@H applications.

Kudos; To everyone who has helped another person to utilize they're system, enhance performance, making sense of the myriad of performance enhancing programs and related information and steering people away from mistakes that can be costly, and keeping people from turning their comps into toasters.

All the help I have been given has been great, the people have been friendly, the information helpful, and all for a good cause. Kudos to everyone here. =)

Well, I got SOME through, but have 9 showing 100% completed and when I update NONE of them report.One job has 99.9% and was stopped to run "high priority" jobs; this particular thing completely baffles me --- is there any one that might be able to explain? And the significance of all the 100% jobs that are doing nothing?
Kudos: to all the great work being done between power outages !!!

First, it's possible for a unit to show as 100% complete, yet not be finished. It's only truly finished if its status says "uploading" or "ready to report."

Second, the ones that won't report might not have uploaded yet. When a unit is finished, there's a two step process. First, your computer uploads the data that is the outcome of your crunching, then it reports the unit as complete to the scheduler. It can't report until it successfully uploads. Uploading has been been struggling with the over-capacity connection to the servers just as downloading has. If a unit's status doesn't say "Ready to report" doing an update won't accomplish anything. Check your Transfers tab to see if the units that won't report are stuck there. (And then just take a deep breath and don't worry about it too much. If you feel like it, you can click the retry button, but it will only do anything if all of the stuck up/downloads are showing a time to their next retry. If any of them show they are actually trying, clicking retry won't do anything useful for you.)

Kudos that we have all this new hardware

Gripes that we are still having significant system issues.
