Are you kidding me? A scam??? They are part of a university....THEY have the bank accounts. If you don't want to give, don't give but please don't make an issue where there isn't one. |

Are you kidding me? SETI@Home is NOT an organisation - it's a research project run by faculty members, staff and students of the University of California. As such, it does not have it's own bank account. Donations are paid to the University of California, which DOES have a bank acount. You have the option of specifying where that donation should be used - e.g. SETI@Home. Be lucky Neil |

I would be willing to help out. I have a PayPal account I use to use years ago for Ebaying some old but new computer equipment. Currently not being used. Also is there any equipment SETI is looking for that people could donate? Email me @ jra610@gmail.com |

The budgeted amount for the current fiscal year is $548,000, so that would be a pretty good target, no? Earlier in this thread it was mentioned that the goal for the fall fund raising drive is $50k. |

I am stunned by the reply made here as Seti@Home is run by Volunteers at UC Berkeley and someone who has been crunching data for Seti@Home to the tune of 64K credit should be looking at what they are actually crunching data for. I would suggest that if you feel that way that you stop crunching data and/or posting. I am going to be donating monthly, only a small amount for now as I can only afford it in that way, however, I have just created my team website which has advertising on it and hopefully I should be able to draw in some cash in that way too. The website also has a forum and is now open and if anyone wishes to come along and join in you would be welcome, even if you are not a team member. http://www.setiweb.co.uk |

It would appear that the gentleman has moved on.... His last computer contact was the day after that post. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |

Sad to see people thinking like that and sad to lose a possible helper but there is just no need for that type of tone on a message board! I am a board owner and quite an experienced admin/mod and I would have removed that post due to flammable content which could also have led to proceedings against the poster but hey we are all adults here bar that one poster! |

Sweet SETI was just on Al Jazeera for their fund raising drive. |

Al Jazeera ran an article on the SETI Institute's closure and fund drive. SETI@Home will not see a single dime from the SETI Institute's promotional gains. Though SETI@Home has come close, it has never actually shut down. Servers may have been down for periods of time, but the project has kept going on thanks to the efforts of the guys in the lab and the generous donations of it's users. |

Add other ways of remittance convenient for volunteers, for example – Web-money (certainly if money is necessary to you). Any of the ways of remittance offered by you does not approach me. And such, as I – much. (I am sorry for my English – I use the autotranslator) |

I think SETI@Home will have no problems with funding from here on in as there are so many supporters that we would not let it fail! The SETI Institute are having some funding problems, but they run in a different manner. Whatever their fate I feel that members of SETI@Home should also subscribe to the Institute as they are also very factual in other things other than SETI itself and as such a good source of knowledge for younger people wishing to get into the sciences. |
