Are there still problems? I only seem to be getting a few new units infrequently and they take ages to download, he progrees of download stops and the status says retry in xxxxxx and it takes many many attempts to download these units |

Its just because the bandwidth is maxed out. You need some patience. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

Its just because the bandwidth is maxed out. Yes, there is still a problem. I can't even ping any of the servers. Even with the bandwidth maxed out I haven't gotten anything since the firewall restarts and then it was only 20 units. All those units are still waiting to get uploaded. |

As I can see onto "cricket" and "server' status", there are no WUs avaliable to crunching now :(( |

As I can see onto "cricket" and "server' status", there are no WUs avaliable to crunching now :(( Nope... One of the Seti servers went down last night, and that effectively stopped all credit granting and issuing new work. The last new WUs I got were about 8 hours ago. If somebody can restart the server, it is possible to have work later today. But it is more likely that it might not be rebooted for about 24 hours when somebody gets back in the lab on Monday. This, of course, assumes that a simple reboot is all that it needs, and there has not been a more serious failure mode. As I can see onto "cricket" and "server' status", there are no WUs avaliable to crunching now :(( Oh great, and Tuesday will be the weekly outage, so it could be late Tuesday evening UK time before there is any work to crunch or any credit granted. And that's assuming there is nothing seriously broken. EDIT just seen the kitty post in the panic mode strem and checked the server / graph status. Looks like the wonderful SETI people are working on a Sunday. Now 1.7 million MBs and 30K APs available to download and the cricket graph is alive again. Also new credit being added, mine has gone by 2K in the last 5 minutes. |

But now there are a lot of WUs ready on the "server status", but I can't get them... What a pity! |

The server anakin crashed. So I built a 64 bit version of the transitioner and deployed it on synergy. Anakin is also a download server (the other being bane) via DNS. I do not want to restart the lab wide DNS server remotely on a Sunday, so I hope this will sort itself out until someone can restart anakin (I am not back to work until Tuesday). DL traffic is maxed out in any case. |

Thanks for the info....its nice to know and much appreciated. I'll just try and sit quietly and wait for (and hope) things settle down. Don't take life too seriously, as you'll never come out of it alive! |

Very nice maneuver, Jeff. Thank you for taking some time off from your Sunday to remote the fix in. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |

Well thanks for the information, I am not a tech person myself, so when things don't go as planned i never know why. Computers are great when everything is working, but when something goes wrong it seems to bring major headaches :( So for now I will keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best. |
