Message 1157621 - Posted: 30 Sep 2011, 23:29:01 UTC - in response to Message 1157591.

I think there should be at least two different threads in this forum regarding the current "panic mode" issues.

One for people having really problems and another one for people who like to celebrate the successful download of 5 WU's or more ;-)

This would have from my POW two key benefits:

(A) I would only read the complaining thread as my (and some others) S@H-situation just belongs there. We could build up a Moaning Society, share solutions (proxys) etc.

(B) The Ladies and Gentlemen who are (again) able to connect and proceed as usual could do the celebration in their own thread without making me (and others) jealous or nervous. If I'm really after such feelings I can still go in and read there.

Nevertheless I don't have a clue why a message like "I could download x WU's in less than x seconds" gives any added value to a "panic mode" thread.
You're freaking out cause you're able to down- and/or upload?

Of cause, it was meant to be a joke. But when I think over it again... hmmm

It IS a good idea... shall I open one? And one of the happy winners opens another?

Perhaps the problem is not with SETI at the moment. A traceroute from the US east coast dies at paix.he.net (198.32.176.20). It could be a Hurricane Electric problem again. Who knows.

Yeah, cricket's flatlined again.

Had a weird situation earlier, none of my home machines had been able to contact SETI since about 0400 local Friday, whereas all my work machines did call home later. Rebooted modem, reset modem, flushed dns on Windows, etc, etc, and nothing helped. Finally did 'sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart' on my Ubuntu server and it and all the rest of my home machines broke the logjam. Then cricket flatlined about two hours ago...

I get as far as 184.105.213.105, then it shows 10.45.45.5 and nothing but time outs.

I don't know, but i saw similar things about 5 houres ago, when i checked the connection to seti servers from some lookingglass servers around the world - the traceroute packets on the last hopes often cycle around on two or three IPs like a merry-go-round before the reached Berkely - if they reach :-( .
My guess - a router/connection problem.
AND I DON'T WANT TO HEAR SOMETHING ABOUT YELLOW ... ;-)

Woooooooooohoooooooooo! I'm getting tasks. The problem being that for a shorty it's at 13 minutes. The crunches time will be about 45 mins. Has DA put another fix in the works.

It gives me hope that someday soon I might be able to u/l and d/l cleanly again. I was able to Update a few mins ago, and that's a Big Improvement.

Since I still have the flops in my app_info, my work is still fairly close to run time.

Well, that didn't last long.
All of a sudden the rigs can't connect again.

We're baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack.

Occasionally.
For a while there i could upload- now it's a case of being able to upoload for a few minuts, then not being able to for 15min+
Won't be able to get any new work till all the previous work has been returned. Could take the rest of the day, unless things improve or die completely again.

I was just going to ask all you American cousins to call it a night and allow us Europeans a chance to do some uploading. I've never seen uploading so slow before, 3m:54s to upload one task.

Got 11 uploaded, over a 100 left to do before I can even think of re-filling. If no go will be out of work by lunchtime.

edit] and it does seem like another nosedive on the cricket graphs.
