I have added goodsearch in my firefox toolbar for quick usage. Same here. Hopefully my almost daily searches will help raise some cash for you guys. :) [edit 1]I made an account with them, and they promptly forgot it - I had to register a second time, and make sure they remembered it by logging out and back in to make sure they didn't forget it a second time. I'd go to the site and try logging in to make sure they haven't done the same thing with you![/edit] [edit 2]The plot thickens; I seem to have two accounts, both on the same e-mail address, both pointing to the same Profile URL. I've e-mailed them a complaint...[/edit] |

It's working, folks!! As of this morning, we have raised $216.45 just by doing our websearches with Goodsearch for Seti. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |

It's working, folks!! $222.92 as of a few seconds ago. I want to win that $1,000. Even those of us who won't ultimately use the service could sign-up and do a few searches so SETI@Home could have the bonus money. There are thousands of us. This just shouldn't be that hard to do. |

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but I read the FAQs and you don't actually need to create an account with these guys (unless of course you want to monitor your own contribution). I only mention this so people don't get scared off by having to create their millionth internet account. Do make sure though that donations are going to University of California - SETI@home, as mentioned. I'm sure we're all allergic to toolbars by now (especially on these crummy 16:9 monitors) but there are plug-ins for IE, firefox, and intructions for Chrome, again as mentioned. Another thing to keep in mind is that obvious searches like Hotmail or Facebook don't count. Neither do Image and Video searches. So don't go all OCD on the thing:) Blurf, you are a genius! Happy searchin' everybody! |

So when I go to type an address like www.cisco.com I end up doing a search for it instead of just going there. At first I'm like #@$%^&*~!, but then I'm like "oh neat I helped raise monies so it's ok". I am trying to use GoodSearch on the all my PCs. As I want to see how much exactly I earn for S@H, I have created account there. On two computers with IE ver.9 I haven't any problems to login & search, but on the other two... There are IE ver.6 and Chrome. Latter just can't connect to server at all, and IE 6 shows an error in login procedure. I am in bewilderment now what I can do... |

I don't know. It works well just before I'm trying to login. After that any pages on goodsearch.com doesn't opening at all, till I clear cookies. |

Are you using noscript in firefox? I think I needed to unblock yahoo.com and yimg.com in order for searches to work. @SETIEric@qoto.org (Mastodon) |

Are you using noscript in firefox? No, I don't use any addons at all. I think I needed to unblock yahoo.com and yimg.com in order for searches to work. Search is working perfectly. I only can't login for counting my searches in "my impact". But I can make support for SETI@home anonymously by GoodToolBar. At any rate, it rather better than to do nothing, I just unhappy because I can't see how much I supported exactly. |

Safari 5.0.6 works ok and as I've made my home page www.goodsearch.com, each time I log on, up pops the donation info at the top right corner. Great idea this! |

I downloaded Safari 5.1 for PC. The same result it was. I'm sure the matter is in couple site+OS, not in browser. |

Suddenly it was fixed. According that I myself changed nothing, I guess they started to generate cookies more correctly. |

Is there a *simple* way for credit/money to go to SETI ... withOUT registering or logging into the goodsearch site? Maybe a URL/link to start with that all susequent actions give credit to SETI? If not, then how about a 'public' account/registration at GoodSearch that all SETI folks can use & even pass on to others? SETI@home since 1999 "Set it, and Forget it!" |

You don't have to register at the site to support a cause. They allow you to select a cause without registering, and your browser remembers which one it is. At least it should. That means that if you use a different browser or a different computer, or if you clear the saved information, you'll need to choose the charity again. That should work even if you've made Goodsearch the default search engine for you browser's search box. I think their toolbar also works without you needing to sign in if you've gone to their site and chosen a charity. For GoodShop, I think you have to deliberately go to goodshop or use their toolbar. It's annoying when you're nearly through buying something and you realize you didn't go through GoodShop. But I'll check around and see if I can find anything easier. @SETIEric@qoto.org (Mastodon) |
