I looked to the last 20 WUs which my machine got, and found a few re-sent, because of 6.04 errors. This are the machines (I think they are not already mentioned here): http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=1976563 http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=3959354 http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=4859101 http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=5158671 http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=5383615 http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=5502641 http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=5640937 http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=5933174 Maybe it helps to find a solution for to fix the mistake. [EDIT: Maybe it would be better to cancel 6.04 and send out again 6.03 app to MACs? And the admins should test 6.04 first at S@h BETA? ;-) Or there are not enough MACs?] - Best regards! - Sutaru Tsureku, team seti.international founder. - Optimize your PC for higher RAC. - SETI@home needs your help. - |

I looked to the now last 20 WUs and found a few MACs with 6.04 errors (they should be new here): http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=3398110 http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=4503276 http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=4677132 http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=4992973 http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=5002737 http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=5153585 http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=5238176 http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=5464380 http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=5465057 http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=5468376 http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=5474182 http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=5510495 http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=5524221 http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=5641019 http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=5851124 http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=5853498 http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=5857362 http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=5897727 http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=5921391 http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=6159132 I worry 6.04 have a BUG and need to be canceled.. (This was the last time I post MACs with 6.04 errors, because it looks like it don't work well) [EDIT: BTW, I have sent a message to the admins because of the errors, so they are informed (about this thread).] - Best regards! - Sutaru Tsureku, team seti.international founder. - Optimize your PC for higher RAC. - SETI@home needs your help. - |

You can add this one to the list of the fallen. http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=815296914. It errored out on 3 different Macs before it crunched out ok on my CUDA card. T.A. |

That box (iBook G4) also completed this 0.74 AR Task http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=815237216 in about 5 minutes with a -9 result_overflow. We'll see if it validates. It did validate. So my ancient iBook G4 is batting 1000 on the 6.04 MB ap. And ECTs on the rest of the queue look reasonable. The Mac G4 (desktop) is about 30 minutes into this Task http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=814725863, no sign of problems so far. What does seem clear is that newer versions of Mac OS-X (10.5/Darwin 9.xx and above) don't like this new 6.04 ap. Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

I've got a couple of 6.04 Wingmen amongst my recently received work and I've completed one of those with no problems on my 'WIntel' PC. Firstly, the finished WU and then there is this one. Don't take life too seriously, as you'll never come out of it alive! |

Yes, it looks like all reported MACs here which make errors with 6.04 have an Intel CPU. One of my old reported machines: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=5002737 Darwin 8.11.1 -> so it's MAC OS 10.4 with Intel CPU So maybe the new 6.04 don't work with Intel CPUs? - Best regards! - Sutaru Tsureku, team seti.international founder. - Optimize your PC for higher RAC. - SETI@home needs your help. - |

I looked through a lot of WUs and found two MACs not with Intel CPU. http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=5521198 Darwin 9.8.0 - MAC OS 10.5 CPU Power Macintosh [Power Macintosh Model PowerMac3,6] [AltiVec] ..to now one well and granted 6.04 result. http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=2142352 Darwin 8.11.0 - MAC OS 10.4 CPU Power Macintosh [Power Macintosh Model PowerMac11,2] [AltiVec] ..to now no result with 6.04 . Donald's machine is running also well with 6.04 .. So it looks like 6.04 don't like Intel CPUs. - Best regards! - Sutaru Tsureku, team seti.international founder. - Optimize your PC for higher RAC. - SETI@home needs your help. - |

Same experience here. All the 6.04 tasks on my MacBook (Intel) have bombed out immediately with several iterations of the "exited with zero status but no 'finished' file" error. My G5 (PowerPC) seems perfectly happy and has so far returned two 6.04 results (one validated and the other pending) and has one ready to report and another in progress. NG NG |

So the next question is: How difficult is it to make the Scheduler assign 6.03 to Intel Macs and 6.04 to PPCs? Or would it be easier to cancel 6.04 entirely? I have sent a message to Eric to be sure he is aware of the problem. Dunno if he is at home this weekend or not, but I did send it his way. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |

Looking at the Applications list it shows two lines for Mac stuff. Mac OS/X 10.3+ 6.04 & Mac OS X/Intel 6.04. So I am guessing they are aware of the type of machines connecting & would only have to regress the Intel 6.04 application if they are actually separate apps. Also Beta shows 6.03 for both platforms. So this was probably a quick fix for something that should have been fine, but apparently one tiny thing did get overlooked. You are spot on. A complete list looks something like this. PPC 10.0 to 10.5 Intel x86 10.4, 10.5, & 10.6 Intel x64 10.6 & 10.7 10.4 & 10.5 will run on x64 hardware, but don't contain any x64 code apparently. Apple had stated when they switched to Intel that they always had builds for Intel platforms of OS X, but I'm not sure what purpose they would serve to ever get them to play with. Unless you were going to make a hackintosh to play with. SETI@home classic workunits: 93,865 CPU time: 863,447 hours Join the [url=http://tinyurl.com/8y46zvu]BP6/VP6 User Group[ |

I could be wrong, but IIRC the Mac OS X/Intel entry in the app overviews is new now. IIRC, as I looked there, 2nd message here in this thread, there was only Mac OS/X 10.3+ . So I guess there is some activity behind the curtain.. - Best regards! - Sutaru Tsureku, team seti.international founder. - Optimize your PC for higher RAC. - SETI@home needs your help. - |

I have a 2-year-old iMac (core 2 duo) running snow leopard (10.6.8). All S@H tasks (6.04) are erroring-out pretty fast with repeated "errno 88". "man 2 intro" shows errno==88 as "88 EBADMACHO Malformed Mach-o file. The Mach object file is malformed.". I ran the prior version for ages with no problem. S@H is suspended until this is fixed. I don't want to waste my time or anyone else's. --Gary |

I'm deprecating 6.04 until we've figured out what's wrong. We're back to 6.03, which may not work on newer Macs that have too many processor cores unless the use at most "N" processors is set to a low values. @SETIEric@qoto.org (Mastodon) |

Unfortunately the newest Intel mac I have at work in my test lab is a core 2 duo. I could set machines up for beta Monday if needed.
