Actually, I am going to take my own advice and take a small hiatus from the SETI@home project. The project isn't really hurting for crunchers so it seems. I may pop in from time to time, but I hit my 2 million mark (after my last 1000 WUs are validated). Going to work on Test4theory, Einstein@home, GPUGRID and Milkyway@home for a while. Peace and good will to all... |

Peace and good will to all... Fair enough, plenty of other projects that can use your processors. Better than throwing all your toys out of the cot with the "Seti doesn't care about me" rant ;-) I mess about with other projects any time Seti has extended gremlins (like now), but I always end up back here. Hopefully see you back one day in the future. Ian |

Good luck and enjoy your new projects. I have signed up for 10 -11 projects and let BOINC setup and control work download. I don't worry about if a project runs out of work because I know my other projects will fill in for me. I will also get extra of the "down" project to make up for lost crunch time when it comes back online. |

Oh I have no doubt that I shall return :) I just thought it to be proper etiquette to let fellow members know when someone bounces in and out of a project. SETI@home is in my blood and to be honest, I am not even upset, however my career situation is changing positions and so all but 2 of my crunchers won't be mine anymore, and one took a PSU hit after the power came back from Irene :) My largest rig is mine, but suspended (not removed) the SETI@home project from BOINC till things are more stable. Thanks to everyone for the well wishes. |

Better than throwing all your toys out of the cot with the "Seti doesn't care about me" rant ;-) This metaphor made me laugh harder than I have laughed in a while, so thank you for that. Always good to excuse one's self in good form, and even better to get some comedy in return :) |

Thank you renter's insurance underwriter for being so quick in sending me a check for the Irene damages :) I should be back on SETI@home by September 15th. Just have to empty out my Einstein@home caches and will be able to point a new rig (now with a GTX 560ti which should more than make up for the machines I will be disowning at work) and my existing i7 rig with my GTX 570 SOC. T minus 13 days, Oorah!!! |
