At this moment I am running out of work fast...

When can we expect new work units? If it will take some time I will use the moment to give the cruncher some cleaning ;-)

Regards,

The Raid that controls the raw data is down. I have no idea how long that will take to fix. But, you can never go wrong by blowing the dust bunnies out.

Based on the post "work generation temporarily halted" by Jeff I guess the answer is until the RAID array is back up and running.

No details on what he meant by "down". It could have just hiccuped & decided it needed to do a rebuild which can at times make an array unusable until it is finished. With the great size of that array it could take quite some time. It could be several more days or a week+.

Provided that you don't blow so hard that you blow something else into or out of the places it shouldn't or should be :-)

for the newer folks to BOINC and seti@home, The admins have made a point to tell people that there will be times where seti@home has no work. They have always said to have a backup project or 2 to fall back on when work is scarce.

It seems like we get to switch projects once or twice a year when Seti gets slow for some reason or other...
You get to do lots of volunteer work for different people...

I gotta install a new mobo on one of my machines pretty soon and I like to break it in with a couple of weeks of crunching if I can . . . unless it's winter, then it's crunching until it get warm again, (outdoors).

I think it was one or two winters ago almost every other project I tried was having problems... when Seti was down for some reason...

heh

aaah well, last machine will run out by the weekend... so then I'll give 'em some rest at night. Treat them like I treat myself to a good nights sleep and see when the project is up and running again.

To all the Seti crew : You're doing a hell of a job (and have been for years now), but maybe a little more info about how long this mega-outage is gonna last ???

One of my crunchers is doing a good job at snagging the odd "reject". Every few hours it manages to get a _3 or _4 WU, about half and half VLAR, so presumably those that have been rejected by the fussy among us...
