Your 460 should do up to 80C with no problem. Mine do. Proud member of the half bill club! |

My Heat pump / AC has gone on the blink , Having to only crunch during the cooler part of the Night... Only CPU and it down to 75 % of CPU time... have stopped getting more tasks for now ( still Got a bunch to go anyway...) 138 to go and 4 or so are AP's... No GPU's due to being so hot anyway... was over 92F here today , Hope to get it fixed by the weekend... To all the wingmen waiting for me to validate , I'm sorry ! Will Get going again as soon as I can... Thanks ! |

I concur. Your prefs look good, so I wouldn't change anything at this point unless you start to see invalidated WUs. I believe you will love the RAC #'s you get with your 460. Also, if you have an EVGA card, make sure you download EVGAPrecision so you can monitor your temp/fan speeds. I have recently also been told about GPU-Z just as a secondary check to make sure your card isn't downclocking, but that is for a whole other discussion... Watch the temps, I keep all my GPU fans locked in at 100%. With all the rigs I have running here, noise is not a factor. And EVGA Precision will monitor GPU load and clock speeds, so you can check for downclocking with it. Would not leave it running full time though, as it does take some resources whilst polling the GPUs. Keep an eye out for errors. If you start to see too many, I would upgrade the PSU. GPU crunching can impose some fairly high spikes in current draw from the PSU. You could also invest in a Kill a Watt to monitor what the draw on your PSU actually is. "Learn from yesterday. I already got EVGA Precision working , showing gpu temp was 56 deg C , so I upped the fan speed to 70 % will watch it and set fan speed to keep it under , or about 50 C . Not sure how much heat this card will take safely...01G-P3-1367-TR , Not sure how long My Power supply will last... Didn't realize it needed 24 amps per 12 v Rail... Mine only has 18 amps per rail... I Guess I need to look up some better Power supplies... Sigh ! |

And his GPU is now returning completed work, showing the x38g app. Since they are new WUs, they have all gone into pending so far, but I suspect they shall validate just fine. You should be OK now, Floyds. "Learn from yesterday. Live for today. Hope for tomorrow." Albert Einstein "With cats." kittyman

If you would post the first twenty or thirty messages from BOINC Manager start up it would really help us diagnose your problem. Whatever you're done, you now have some Nvidia GPU work, (received at 14 Aug 2011 | 17:59:53 UTC) Claggy |

If you would post the first twenty or thirty messages from BOINC Manager start up it would really help us diagnose your problem. GPU is enabled in Prefs I already re-ran the 38 installer , Have all 3 apps selected... Maybe I didn't select the correct boxes in the 38 installer... wasn't sure which boxes to select... did the best I knew to do ... : ( |

If you would post the first twenty or thirty messages from BOINC Manager start up it would really help us diagnose your problem. The log looked fine, i suspect you just haven't got the x38g Cuda app installed, try rerunning the 0.38 installer and select the apps you want to run, Also you should check your project preferences, perhaps Nvidia GPU work fetch is disabled. If you would post the first twenty or thirty messages from BOINC Manager start up it would really help us diagnose your problem. If you are no longer running the ATI card on that machine you might try completely removing the ATI drivers. Sometimes they interfere with the installation of the NV driver. There is a little program that will get all the things a standard uninstall misses but I don't remember the name right offhand. Maybe someone else can chime in with it. And with your computers hidden nobody can confirm what BOINC thinks its got configured. I have it clicked to show computers , always have had it that way... I am thinking that when I switched from the ATI card to the 460 , the Boinc and Lunitics app must be corrupted a little... When I finish all the WU's in cache , I was planning to Uninstall Boinc and all the apps , to do a fresh Install , Maybe that will Help... ALSO To: rhelfter I Installed the newest Nvidia drivers also 280.26 ... Not sure what is wrong , BUT , Maybe Doing a complete Clean install of Boinc and The LUN App 38 will clear this up ! |

Note: Making your computers visible within BOINC does not expose them to being tampered with, but what it does do is allow others to see how they are configured and behaving. NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 SE (993MB) driver: 26101 Did you decide to stick with the 261.01 drivers? I also don't see any WU's running on your GPU for your computer when browsing through your tasks list. |
