So, is the only Intel 1155 motherboard that can support 4 GPU (physical cards) the Asus P8P67 WS Revolution or are there other choices. There are reviews out there but has anyone tried one for SETI crunching? Will there be a Z68 version?

The Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD7-B3 looks like you would be able to get 4 x8 slots out of it, but only with single slot cards.

I'm thinking 4 560 Ti's on Air so single slot is not really an option.

Pick a different card. The 560ti's are having quite a few issues.

There's the Asus Maximus IV Extreme-Z, or the P8Z68 DELUXE, but that only has 3 PCIe 2.0 full length slots.

You're a step ahead of most then :)

Some great board recommendations here, you're well on your way.

I like the newer boards from Evga, except for one thing. I'm not crazy about the 24-pin power plug being over on its side with the metal pins exposed in back. I know its irrational. I guess one could cover that somehow.

Just put some paint on insulation on it.

spacers. If any of the contacts on the back of the motherboard get shorted, bad things can happen.

Maybe a bit of epoxy would be OK. Could help prevent the plug moving as well.

Pick a different card. The 560ti's are having quite a few issues.

I haven't been able to keep the computer my 560ti is in running, communicating, and filling the cache so I haven't "reported."

The one problem I did have happened while I was away and the computer threw off hundreds of errors (one every six seconds, so by the time I realized it was doing it and stopped it a lot of WU damage had been done), but it seems to have been a video driver hang. After a reboot it was fine again.

I've had that happen with a 9800 GT and a GTX 460, too, so I can't fault the GTX 560Ti.

The other problems with that computer have been things like losing a network connection for days or that mysterious thing where one computer goes into extended back-offs and no others do.

I'm running the Lunatics' 38g on the CPU and GPU. The card is running below 60 C with no heroic measures to cool it (but in a decently ventilated case).

The one thing worth mentioning is that the rest of the system is pretty dull and boring (Athlon II x2, one hard drive, one optical drive) so the PC Power & Cooling "Silencer 750" with a single 60amp 12v rail doesn't have a lot to do but power the one 560Ti and some fans.

Since it was one of the Gigabyte Super Overclock cards (950/1900/4580) I did not try to overclock it.

And the system isn't overclocked in any way.

From reading through all your troubles, I can't tell if you ever narrowed down the trouble to an aggressive overclock, or an inadequate power supply, or bad drivers, or a combination of all of it.

I can't fault my 560Ti.

But I can't tell what my RAC is because I can't keep the system up, connected, and full of work long enough for the RAC to stabilize.

EDIT - I am only running two WUs at a time.
