I think you will find the the main reason demand fell in this time is because people and businesses were worried about the "Fiscal Cliff", the effect it might have on them and so held on to their cash. Taking money out of the Welfare system also reduces the amount of cash in the economy.

The proof of the pudding will be in the March quarter figures.

Business is not expanding do to a lack of demand. Yes. Lack of demand brought on by the brand new higher personal income and FICA taxes 'Bama screamed for. If you don't have the money you can't spend it. If people aren't buying stuff you don't build plants. Where can you stuff you money? Greece? Iceland? You find a place where you expect to be able to collect it all back. So far that is the USA, but not much longer. All it takes is a credit downgrade because we don't pay down the debt and boom, bond rates will be at 25% and gold will be at $5,000 an ounce.

I guess he thinks the government must be the spender of last resort. Ask him if they can spent it on Seti@home!

and not only in the US. The OZ Prime Minister has announced a federal election for the 14th of September.The leaders of both parties smell like a fish market, the choice is abysmal.

Could be a chance we'll see more independents come good this time.

Lol, I always thought Dull and ID were the same person, so now I am super confused.

Also, I am pretty sure Guy did a full on flounce from the forum, although I have no idea what the events were that led up to that.

..and Sarge?...well he's just plain crazy.

How can Dull and I.D. be the same person. Dull at least sometimes posts a semi-intelligent thought, even if it is heavily biased. I'm not sure that can be said of I.D., all he does is reguritate garbage he read somewhere else.
