Falk -- who suffered from Alzheimer's disease -- was 83. Just one more thing, sir....... Don't take life too seriously, as you'll never come out of it alive! |

Great character actor. I loved his work. His work in movies has been overshadowed by his TV work. One of his roles that was among my favorites, was his portrayal of Joy Boy in "Pocketful of Miracles" (1961). R.I.P. ... BETTER THE WORLD ~ PAY IT FORWARD ... |

I loved his acting too..... The squint in his eyes when he was asking questions in Columbo. And the nochalant attitude when he did not get the truthful answer, but knew the truth nonetheless. RIP, dear Peter. Gawd, we have lost so many recently. You will have much company. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

Me too, I watched Columbo and I liked it a lot, as to Alzheimers there us no history of it in My family. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

I loved his acting too..... They seem to be going in batches. At least he got his Biblical 3 Score and 10, and quite a few more. Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

I loved his acting too..... Yeah, But Alzheimers, His relatives or whomever took care of him in His last years, I've heard it's hard to watch a relative almost melt down mentally and be powerless to stop it. My late Aunt had a stroke and She only had dementia and I barely knew Her, so that's as close to Alzheimers as it gets here, I don't think their even close to being the same, but what do I know? I think She knew there was little that I could do as She was way up north near Sacramento and I was down here in Yermo, Her married relatives took care of Her, She died a few months later after having a 2nd stroke, She had no children, I was about as close to that as She ever got. And I'd only met Her once back in the 60's up north and before '73 down south when She visited My Uncle and Her Mom. Ok, I'm shutting up now. Vic, dementia and Alzheimers are related, in fact dementia is one component of Alzheimers. But dementia shows up in other situations, too. My mother died of colon cancer, but in the last month of her life she had some dementia issues, too. Brain damage due to Stroke can include loss of memory and altered memory/dementia. BTDWT, not fun at all. Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

Dementia Wikipedia wrote: Dementia (taken from Latin, originally meaning "madness", from de- "without" + ment, the root of mens "mind") is a serious loss of cognitive ability in a previously unimpaired person, beyond what might be expected from normal aging. It may be static, the result of a unique global brain injury, or progressive, resulting in long-term decline due to damage or disease in the body. Peter Falk will be missed by many. He played the Colombo part well, and just missed annoying the murders sufficiently not to be murdered himself during his investigations. It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues |

Great character actor. Totally agree. I liked his part of "Rabinoff" in Anzio with Robert Mitchum. They played well off each other. R.I.P. Peter |

I was listening to an interview with the director of Colombo and Peter Falk was apparently attracted to the part because he saw himself in the character the same mannerisms and forgetfulness they, the studio ,he said had to send a driver to his home several times to get the keys to the banger that he drove in Colombo more than once.I wonder if any TV channels in the UK will re-repeatthe series.Good daytime TV fodder. Old enough to know better(but)still young enough not to care |
