R.I.P. Clarence Clemons who has died at the age of 69. An amazing saxophonist by anyone's standards, a pretty good singer too and of course, one of the original members of the E Street Band. The Big Man will be missed.

Sorry to hear that. I had read in the last few days that he had suffered a stroke, but there was some hope for recovery.

RIP Clarence.

I saw Bruce and the E Street Band way back in 1980 at the Mellon Arena.
They're a great group, definitely worth seeing in concert, they put on a tremendous show.
I have been to many, many concerts and none were better than the show these guys presented.
And of course Clarence Clemons was most memorable.
He'd be on stage one moment, and then in a flash the spot light would shine on him,
50 yards away on top of a speaker, or on a catwalk 25 feet above the stage, etc.
He was one heck of a performer.

R.I.P.

Somebody (I think Ray Stevens) did a song about Rock'n'Roll Heaven.

Man, the horn section of that band just got a whole lot better....

I heard Maynard Ferguson is looking for a wailing sax for the Heavenly Birdland Dream Band...

I'm pretty sure Clarence has a gig waiting for him! :-)

Legendary country singer Glen Campbell says he has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, and has recorded one last album as a farewell to his fans.

The 75-year-old has been suffering from short-term memory loss for years, but the terminal Alzheimer's diagnosis only came six months ago, according to an interview published in People magazine.

Campbell's wife, Kim, said they decided to go public with his diagnosis ahead of a final concert tour in the US autumn.

Kim said she wants people to know why "he flubs a lyric or gets confused on stage".

"I still love making music," Campbell was reported by the BBC as saying. "And I still love performing for my fans. I'd like to thank them for sticking with me through thick and thin."

Campbell, who started out as a session guitarist for the Beach Boys and producer Phil Spector, rose to fame in the 1960s with such hits as Wichita Lineman and By the Time I Get to Phoenix.

His most famous song is Rhinestone Cowboy.
