here's crazy.
Arizona is in the news with wildfires. Big whoop. TExas has been having them for several months now. We are at an all time record for acreage burned in 1 year and we still have over 6 months left in the years. At last check we've had 2.2 million acres burn this year. The previous record was 1.8 million. I'd say its a really hot dry and bad year for Texas weather

Water, water everywhere, but not a drop fit to drink. That's the ocean surrounding the UK.

UK Drought

It's starting to get a bit serious in the UK and Northern Europe. El Nino, Global warming, Gulf Stream changing, dunno take your pick. All we know is we want some rain .....

Mr Wotsit, Sir...I think this year 'La Nina' is the culprit.

I already tried that, Their numbers are out of service. But then We have a snow pack in Sierra Nevada mountains to end all snow packs, We'll be draining the water off that the reservoirs can't hold for weeks and some of that huge runoff will go through the Sacramento Delta, I'm hoping the levees hold there.

Ah yes, I did hear from P O'Seidon that they were moving, but they were not sure where, although there was something mentioned about South America. On their current (pun intended) where-abouts, I couldn't possibly speculate on that.

I was south of Flagstaff, which is 30 miles east of Williams. I think we hit 80 once, but we mostly were in the 70's. We had a nice camp fire the first night, but somebody down the road managed to lose control of a camp fire and the forest service shut down all fires.

A new fire has been identified at Old Bubbly and Shell Harbor roads (947 Old Oak Circle, Pierson. Land Management tractors are on scene. No homes are threatened. The fire is approximately two acres.

Mop up continues on the Maytown Road fire. Maytown Road remains closed from Gobblers Lodge Road east to Bell Ridge Road west. The fire area runs along both sides of Maytown Road, with numerous damaged trees that pose a significant hazard to motorists as well as limited visibility from the smoke.

As firefighters work 10 active fires throughout the county, residents should follow directions of local officials as emergency conditions warrant. Many areas are extremely dangerous and residents should use extreme caution.

Due to widespread smoke, drivers are encouraged to use extreme caution especially morning hours. Use headlights at all times much like during fog conditions.

Residents are advised call 9-1-1 to report flames, but not smoke. Residents are advised to be aware of their surroundings and be prepared to listen to direction given by law enforcement and fire services.

@2305 PDT it is 85F on my patio. No breeze.

Earlier tonight, I had a soaker hose going on a section of the lawn near the mulberry trees.
There are now 3 adult cats and 3 kittens laid out in that damp grass.
I can see them in the moonlight, but if I turn on the porch light or try to take a flash picture, they will scatter.

I brought my bike to my parents house in Burkburnett Texas. I wanted to do a bit of riding this weekend. SUPRISE!!!! it was 101 degrees at 10pm last night, the daytime high was 109, and we have a 30 mph wind blowing through. The average temperature for this time of year is 92 degrees. another local temperature Vernon Texas reached 113 yesterday. Expecting more of the same today. Its a freaking blast furnace out there!!!

I've worked near molten iron, that's really HOT, hot enough to make Its own light, not surprising really as iron is made in certain typed of stars from fusing lighter elements into iron. Though heavier elements than iron are made in either a novae or a supernovae from what I've read. But yeah 113F is pretty hot, here its been as high as 115F.
