Semi expected. See the cricket graphs. Right now it says >93 MBPS are in use of a 100 MBPS channel. When that backs off a bit everyone should get through on the first try.

Precisely what I stated a few posts ago. Server overload. It's like waiting in line for the most popular ride at a theme park. Everyone will get a chance to ride it, but you have to wait your turn in line :P I imagine Tuesday afternoon things should be somewhat back to normal. Though since our weekly outage begins then, it will be hard to tell. We might actually get a three day outage this time. Patience is a virtue.

All I know is I have 8 complete works dating back to the beginning of May still awaiting validation. The only works getting validated are from within the last day or two. Would really really suck if a whole month of work (and credit) went down the drain! If it does I hope the aliens invade and do an Independence Day over Berkeley!!

Those tasks aren't complete until your wingmen has also completed them, then they will get validated, if they don't get completed on time, or get validated, then get issued to other wingmen,

I have some from back in April, or did a couple of days ago. They trickle in. Have to remember not everyone is using The fastest processors, Fermi GPUs or even leave their computers on 24/7.

Validation is great for it advances underatanding. Why is there so much obsession with "credits"? A Nobel prize does not not depend on "credits" but upon the quality and insight of the work done. I would daresay that none of us contributing CPU time qualify.

Since there is a system in place to track credits, it gives people the right to ponder their credit standing. I, for one, do not track credits at this point as a newbie, but a lot of people do, and rightfully so. The Nobel Prize is irrelevant as a comparison since it does not relate in any form to the Seti Project.

I guess it benefits the individual in the sense that it shows what you personally have accomplished. It's not that the credit system is a necessity, just a way to keep track of things. Then again, I'm new too, and there might be another reason for the credits that I have not yet been made privy to. Some people take it very seriously I've noticed too :D

I'm afraid that's a question of human nature. Since there are points, humans will compete and/or measure themselves against others using them. If there weren't points, we'd probably have fewer people doing SETI because they couldn't compete against others, even passively.

Personally I don't care much about points, and certainly don't care about how mine compare against others, but I must admit that on a personal level passing the two million point threshold was a pleasure. It's just a measuring stick, and different people react differently to measurement.

I run SETI on my machine when I'm not doing other things with it. The machine is a low-mid gaming rig right now, with a old 9800GTX in it that was one of the first CUDA capable cards. I also never turn the machine off, no matter what, so for SETI to not be running on it would be a waste. But that's my scenario.

It's not a race:)

Besides, everyone knows the Tortoise beats the Hare in the end!
