I'm down to only 4 WUs left on my Pending Credit list. How are you doing? I assume this will disappear entirely in the not too distant future; is there anything that could replace it on the Account page that would be of use to the community? In the past, I have asked for counts of WUs in the various categories (i.e., total number of valid, invalid, pending, etc.), but have been ignored. |

I've had 4 remaining for two weeks now. Their current timeout dates are scattered from early June into July. None of them are close to running out of reassignment opportunities. Barring any Admin intervention, it could be a long wait before the list is finally clear. Martin |

5 left for me. Current sends due in late May/early June, but most can be sent out a couple more times after that. -Dave |

I have 1 left from February and apparently its going to be around for another round. My wingman hasn't returned a WU since April 25th and this 1 is due back in 2 more days. In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

I was down to one that expired on the 21st. But it timed out, and resent until July something. BUT, I just checked and now it's gone. I'm now done with Pending Credit... |

I am down to 1 as well. It will probably be resent on the 31st as my wingman apparently downloaded over 600 WUs on April 14 and is plugging away at them at a rate of about 1 every 3 days. It will just be the luck of the draw if he gets to mine. It has been hanging around for some time now and is probably actually a bad WU. Yes I had 1 at the last check. That's a nice clean database isn't it. |

Yes I had 1 at the last check. That's a nice clean database isn't it. No, it isn't. You will likely have just as many pending tasks as before, probably more judging by the 'in the field' / 'awaiting validation' figures on the server status page. It's just that tasks completed after 8 March 2011 are excluded by the query which generates that page. If you don't believe me, look at your user task list, and select the 'pending' filter. |

I've got 6 myself divided between 2 wingmen (Tim Norton & speedbump) and all of them are due to time out within the next 24hrs. Cheers. |

I wonder if the pending list elimination is intended to decrease server tasking. Limiting us to 20 at a time instead of querying for possibly 100's In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

I wonder if the pending list elimination is intended to decrease server tasking. Limiting us to 20 at a time instead of querying for possibly 100's I think the logic was simply that because claimed credit was no longer being used in the calculation of granted credit, it was a waste of Scheduler time to calculate the claim. Certainly having a user page through multiple sets of 20 is more load on the server than getting the full set in one query. It would be simple to change the query for the whole set to depend on having a non-zero CPU time or similar rather than a non-zero claimed credit. Then some tweaking of the php for the pending page could have it make sense in terms of the total number of pending tasks, and could for instance have the total run time from which some users might be able to estimate the total pending credit. IOW, if those of you with multiple systems and high productivity want a pendings page with the full list and some of the associated data which is in the database, it is possible. Getting Dr. Anderson to implement it would be a matter of asking for it and explaining the request in a way which makes sense to him. Joe |

Joe - How does one make a request of Dr. A? I really would like a summary page (of counts of WUs in the various states) rather than going through them page by page instead of the old Pending Credit. Counts could be maintained on the fly (perhaps), so the query would be very simple and no load on the servers. Could be an alternate to the Pending Credit on the Accounts page, or be automatically displayed when the Accts page is asked for... |

Joe - Ageless maintains a 'wishlist' on the Boinc board and relays requests that make sense. May take some time. And please don't remind me about what happened the last time I asked for something that would have made a lot of sense. Alternatively write up as email - with very clear explanation what you want and why you want it. Then either post yourself to the boinc_dev mailing list (subject line starting 'user web') or have one of the resident contributors/readers email it for you (e.g. Richard Haselgrove, me, possibly Joe). What do you do with credits? I just joined SETI and I am getting credits, but I can't find any information on what I do with the. Can anyone tell me? Thanks Ken Sobel |

What do you do with credits? You can exchange 10,000,000 credits for absolutely nothing. We just use credits to see whose CPU/Graphics card/Computer is "better" than anyone else's - the more credits granted, presumably, the more work you have done (= more science done). Some folks take it very seriously, but most don't. And you don't need to have a giant dual hexcore Xeon/ 4 monster graphics cards to contribute - there are many, many Setizens who contribute much less than others do, but they are doing their part the way the project was intended to be. All who want to process for Seti are welcome. |
