Thanks for the update Matt. I'm looking forward to hearing more about this. Also, looking forward to crunching the data. As others have said, I have a REAL good feeling about this ! |

I guess I got my new computer just in time. It's an i7 2600 with a GT 440 graphics card. According to my stats pages, it currently has 445 units in progress. My two older machines have about 50 between them. David David Sitting on my butt while others boldly go, Waiting for a message from a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri. |

Awesome! I am also eager to start crunching the data. Cannot wait. I hope we find something exciting. "By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible". Hebrews 11.3 |

With this much data, maybe EVERYONE might get the chance to talk to E.T. If it's suppossed to be me, it will....(crossing fingers, toes, and eyes - eyes for only a very short time). Paul |

Great news!!!!! so Seti will be pulling 60 TB a day? if so how many days? Can we get a count down clock to when we "might" be getting the data to crunch.... i will clear my all other projects out so i can put my full power to this. and again great work guys. |

yes, it is fantastic, the Green Bank telescope is like the ferrari of telescopes, just great, cant wait for the its data to stream down to SetiHome for analysis of ETI signals. |

UC Berkeley SETI Survey Focuses on Kepler's Top Earth Like Planets Thanks Matt! Question...I asked in another thread if S@H will continue to piggyback on the telescope after the Kepler reobservations are complete but nobody was able to give me an answer. Would you be able to speak on the matter? Is this a one-time thing or is S@H permanently at GBT? Thanks! You will be assimilated...bunghole! |

Would you be able to speak on the matter? Is this a one-time thing or is S@H permanently at GBT? Thanks! We'll just have the 24 hours of total observing time for now (no plans in the near term for more observations beyond that), but we will have collected the same amount of data during these 24 hours as SETI@home collects in 170 days (and which is roughly what the ATA took 2000 days to collect). So that's *plenty* for the time being! - Matt -- BOINC/SETI@home network/web/science/development person -- "Any idiot can have a good idea. What is hard is to do it." - Jeanne-Claude |

I'll say, thats a lot of data. :-). It would be nice to continue work after the 24 hours so that the reciever isn't simply shelved after the work you guys put into it. You will be assimilated...bunghole! |

Matt: Can you give us some insight into thei "coarse analysis" and how it is done? What computational resourses are employed and what methods of determining artificial versus natural are employed? I'd like to hear from Dan Werthimer and get some outline of his plan for handling the data once acquired. How are you storing it and transporting it for processing? Seems there are a myriad of questions and insight into this program I'd like to have. Does Dan have an outline of the project and how he's going about this? Thanks 800Mhz of instantaneous bandwidth can envelop a lot of signal including modulations from analog AM and FM to Pulse Modulations, Frequency Pulse Position, Pulse amplitude, etc... Running this through a sieve to determine repetition or artificial origin ought to be most interesting and challenging. Would really like to see the signal analysis methodology Dan's employing to rake this stuff through... This could really encompass a breakthrough in SETI signal processing and anlysis methodology. There might even be others who would like to learn from this analysis methodology and possibly fund.. Let's say and FM frequency modulated signal carrying a aideband employing Pulse Postion Modulation or even pulse amplitude modulation... Would his signal analysis pick that up? I'm really excited about this new source and possible new analysis techniques... Never engage stupid people at their level, they then have the home court advantage..... |

Then ask your question in the Number Crunching section. There are lots more people there than here who are willing to help you figure it out. Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

Just as a reminder. Seitzen Donors financed this project. At least in part. I don't know all the details. Maybe Mr Dan W. can give us an update. Pluto will always be a planet to me. Seti Ambassador Not to late to order an Anni Shirt |
