It is power hungry, it is hot, and it is not overclocking that much if no additional measures for cooling it down are taken.
I would preffer 460 in any case.

Yeah, most of them will run like 80c or so which puts them in the same territory as the 470 and 480. The 460's run in the neighborhood of what? 60c-65c maybe a touch more? Not to mention the power needed to run one versus the 460.(20-30 watts less at load) If gaming wasn't a huge concern for me I would rather have the 460, however if gaming was a concern I would have spent another $30 and got a 560Ti. But that's just me, in my opinion the 465 is another one of those cards put out that are better skipped. (Kind of like the 550ti now)

One thing to keep in mind, if you know how to mod and flash you can unlock some of the 465's to be 470's.

I read up on that. Mine I believe is one of the older ones that has the chip which makes it a 470. Going to talk to my mate about flashing it to reactivate.

Just got the card in today and it's just as advertised.

As far as heat issues, I bought a case w/ 2 120's and 1 90 coupled with two internal circulation 120's. Hopefully air cooling won't be an issue.

I wouldn't worry too much about heat anyways. Nvidia is good on Fermi to 105c. It will last longer the cooler you can keep it but even at the 70-85c range you will end up upgrading to something bigger, better, or newer well before it burns out.

If you can flash it go for it, just make sure you read and understand the consequences that can happen if you card doesn't like it or you do it wrong. Enjoy the new card if you are like most people you wouldn't REALLY notice the difference between the two unless you run benchmarks or a Killawatt meter.

Gotcha. If I decide to flash it, I'll tender that to an expert friend of mine. I'd rather not monkey up a good thing.

My 465 only runs @ ~65c under full load @ stock clocks
I was thinking that was hot and am in the process of moving the GPU's around to give it a bit more space and try to cool it down

Lots of the helpful folks here told me again and again to pick up a 460. I even had one in my cart. However I was offered a GTX 465 for $130USD shipped. I couldn't pass that up.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130555

It's the same card as listed above. Did I screw up in jumping the gun on what I perceived as a screaming deal or will this card do decent crunching work?

Thanks again guys.
