I know this is not Seti related, but I thought some of you guys in this forum could really help me out.

At work one of the computers that was running some ISA card died, and we are looking for a replacement. Basically I need a motherboard with an ISA slot and it has to support a CPU faster than 1.7 GHz. The 1.7 GHz is a requirement for the software to install. We tried to get the card working in a Pentium 3 motherboard with the CPU running at 500 MHz, but the software refuses to install with an error message stating that it will not allow to be installed if the CPU speed is below 1.7 GHz.

So I need a motherboard with a at least a socket 478 or 775 P4.

All the motherboards I found online are over $250, which is not good.
Can you give any advice?

What kind of card is it? Perhaps it could be replaced by something with a PCI interface?

It's a card that controls a AFM microscope. So the card can not be reasonably replaced.

In a quick search I found this place that has socket 478 board with ISA slots. ISA boards are still used in a lot of telephony stuff. Another options would be a passive back plane system where you put in a SBC(single board computer) with the computing grunt you needed. I didn't do a lot of looking but it looks like the P4 might be the newest you will be able to go to still have ISA.

I am trying to remember whether or not an ISA card will work in an EISA slot or not... it has been too long.

Should be backwards compatible; I am looking over stuff for an A+ cert, and the guide says that the ISA card will fill the top part of the EISA slot.

Thanks. I will take a look at them. Now to decide between them I would have to see if its easy to track down the drivers. I googled some of those motherboards and did not see anything good.

I have this Computer:
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=5732288

It is SUMICOM S620
http://www.kingyoung.com.tw/
http://www.kingyoung.com.tw/S620.htm

Intel 865GV Integrated Graphics (Intel Extreme Graphics 2)
is ~ as fast as NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 Integrated Graphics
(e.g. in Colin McRae Rally 2 (year 2000 ?) and in the desktop 2D interface)

I don't know about Intel® 845G Chipset but the Drivers are here:
http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/cs-009236.htm

Maybe the Graphics Driver for Intel 865GV and Intel® 845G is (almost?) the same.

I hope you will not try to install Windows 7 on such hardware - you will not find drivers.
Windows XP will be best.
