The replica mysql database is down and will stay down until we can recover it during the next weekly outage on Tuesday. This is fallout from the failed (and recovered) RAID on that system. We thought we'd pushed beyond the minor corruption caused by the short blip, but apparently not. The easiest thing to do is rebuild it from scratch from the master after a backup. In the meantime, carolyn can handle the full load on its own without breaking a sweat. Bob's been doing a great job keeping the splitters well fed with raw data (even over the weekends). Still, we get gummed up with funny raw data files that break the whole analysis suite for one reason or another. So we spent some time this morning adding some more "broken file" smarts to the software. It's all a work in progress. We're running low on our data backlog for the moment, but Bob's getting more from the off site archives as we speak. - Matt -- BOINC/SETI@home network/web/science/development person -- "Any idiot can have a good idea. I am trying to translate from geek speak to geek speak... "We're running low on our data backlog for the moment" I am thinking means.. "things are really flying and we are catching up" means "lots of work is flowing, and we are in our eternal quest to balance things out". Am i close? Janice |

I am trying to translate from geek speak to geek speak... I think it translates to, the pantry is almost empty and we had to go on a shopping trip. |

I for one am grateful to Bob and his continual efforts to keep the pantry full. Much of the time I see about 200k WU ready to dispatch to the crunchers, so he's doing a good job. Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

I am trying to translate from geek speak to geek speak... I'd have used a storeroom/warehouse analogy, but that works, too.. Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

Maybe http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/beta/ ? No, you can end up with cookie issues using that. The official URL is http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/beta/ Joe |

I try to register account in SETI@home beta here https://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/beta//create_account_form.php?next_url= In this page I saw message: "NOTE: If you use the BOINC Manager, don't use this form. Just run BOINC, select Add Project, and enter an email address and password." Ok I think and go to BOINC -> Add Project. I'm use vers 6.12.15(64x) I CAN'T find ETI@home beta in project's list. What I did wrong? |

I also am unable to upload a result to Beta: Mon 7 Mar 20:16:59 2011 SETI@home Beta Test Started upload of 06no10ac.26700.885.8.13.10_0_0 Mon 7 Mar 20:17:00 2011 SETI@home Beta Test [error] Error reported by file upload server: can't open file Mon 7 Mar 20:17:00 2011 SETI@home Beta Test Temporarily failed upload of 06no10ac.26700.885.8.13.10_0_0: transient upload error Mon 7 Mar 20:17:00 2011 SETI@home Beta Test Backing off 3 hr 52 min 32 sec on upload of 06no10ac.26700.885.8.13.10_0_0 (Times are in MST.) P.S. I wouldn’t worry about a deadline: while nobody's uploading, current WUs can’t reach quorum for validation. |
