Currently, 2,755 database queries/second!! WOW.

We've had spikes of over 30,000. Not bad, eh?

Don't brag too much Matt, server like to send a dose of reality when you do that, lol.

Should we start tasking bets on what crashed Friday at 5:20PM lab time?

Had we not changed to Daylight Saving Time it would have occurred at 4:20 and then we would know exactly what was going on. :P

Oh well, its not much of a problem for me, since I'm going back to Devon for a week for a badly needed holiday, in the next hour. Your joke about the cleaning crew, might just be true, Mark. Such a thing happened at work, when a cleaner pulled out a plug which had the main router attached to it (there was also no warning note not to unplug it either) and it was on a Friday night.....oops! Needless to say, it is now 'hard-wired' to the mains supply. Good to see you back, by the way.

Thanks.....
Maybe someone will have time to give the servers the ol' Seti kickarooney.
Otherwise, we'll be fine until Monday.

Its just a little curious the servers didn´t run 4 weeks without a hickup since the big change.

No whining, just wondering.

I guess it's as simple as a question of the weakest link. The new servers are so powerful that they force the older hardware to work harder than they are designed to work. So, the weakest link(s) fails one after the other.

Edit: You can upgrade until the cows comes home. There will always be a weakest link in the chain that will break. Unless of course you upgrade the whole farm to the latest specifications at the same time.

You will always have a weakest link, drives die in new machine too. So do numerous other parts. It's just the nature of the beast. Sometime I get a chuckle out of the panicky petes around here. Not saying you guys are those people of course. ;)

WOW !

I had forgotten two things:

1) That I set the power settings on one of my computers to put the thing to sleep if it wasn't doing anything.

2) What silence sounds like.

By estimation, I've got about 9-10 days left on both of my machines. But the estimation are pretty far off from being correct. I figure if I run them around the clock I've got about 4 days left of work to do. Hopefully they have us back up by the time or we will be in serious trouble on the home front....err maybe not lol.
