Shhhh - Mark's asleep, just walk and talk quietly and the Kitties will do their things will "the boss" slumbers. Like Mark I was surprised and pelased to see work flowing in both directions. I'm filling the tanks one at a time, and I've just got one cruncher to go, the one that (should) take the most WU to get its tanks full (and the one that was the first one to run them dry....). Download is a bit "lumpy", but given the amount of data that's being requested I'm not taken aback by that, but am pleased by the fact that the rate of WU generation is holding so well under the strain of filling all these empty tanks. LOL... The 'boss' awakened. Only to see some serious CDS problems on my top rigs. CDS, I hear you ask? Can't download s--t. Now ya know. EDIT... A few abuses of the retry transfer button got a few things to shift, but it is still pretty hard plowing. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

Well, 7 hours ago i have started all Rigs and tried to download a few Workunits. But after 5 hours i shut the Rigs down, because i can't get Workunits fast enough. Maybe i give it a try on Friday... Helli A loooong time ago: First Credits after SETI@home Restart |

Well, 7 hours ago i have started all Rigs and tried to download My top 2 rigs are floundering about trying to get work. With the jackass 'project backoffs' introduced into Boinc, it is pretty much fruitless. I am gonna have to recompile my own version of Boinc without the asinine backoff syndrome. BTW...... and a note for you all..... I would not have expected anything less after an outage of this duration. It is gonna take DAYS to clear. If you see a chink in the Cricket graphs, might wanna hit the buttons then. Otherwise, it's your chance in many thousand. Meow. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

You need to find out why your system is not requesting work! Do you have "No new work" set for the Seti project? Boinc....Boinc....Boinc....Boinc.... |

I suspect it is like mine...... Too many hung downloads will suspend work requests. If it don't get, it don't ask. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

Looking at the server graphs; http://bluenorthernsoftware.com/scarecrow/sahstats/graphs.php The number of results out in the field has been increasing fairly constantly over the past hours. The rate is at around an additional 66000 units per hour. The number of results coming in every hour has been fairly constant for several hours now after the initial peak and is sitting neatly at about 33000 per hour. The result creation rate has been sitting around 30 per second or 108,000 per hour so it is looking like for every 3 units served out, 1 has been crunched and is being returned. The other two are going into caches. By this reckoning it's going to take a good three more days to fill a 10 day cache. |

I think something is a miss with downloads They start ... then quit (maybe a time out) for me I don't get why a transfer once started does that Something is perpetuating the resend loop... WHY |

I think something is a miss with downloads It is the fricking backoff in Boinc. Once a down or upload stalls, it will retry. Except Boinc adds a timout. Which can be several hours. And then it will not attempt the download again for that many hours. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

I think something is a miss with downloads No, it's not. The problem with downloads once started is the same reason as the difficulty in getting them in the first place. Extreme network traffic load. Of course if more people had clients with the fricking backoff, it wouldn't be such a big probblem for so long. Grant Darwin NT |

here it´s reporting ~ 2:00 to 2:12 hours by now You could leave it, or you could sit there & hit retry till they've all downloaded, or you could do what i've been doing. Hit retry till you've got enough work to keep the system busy for a couple of hours. Then just let it go & check back in a couple of hours & continue from there. Grant Darwin NT |

btw. on the other machine it´s reporting "no tasks available .. I was getting that early on for a couple of hours also. 2 systems running off of the same router/modem. One would get work allocated on most requests, the other "No tasks available..". Grant Darwin NT |

btw. on the other machine it´s reporting "no tasks available .. Cricket is maxxed out. Things will not settle down for a few days at best. The kitties are in standby mode here. Will auto retry every few hours until they can get through. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |
