Box 3. Social Security Wages $0.00
Box 4. Social Security Tax withheld $0.00

You must have misunderstood. The parking space marked "U" is used by everyone with a "U" in their name.

It's not the size of the commute, it's how you use it.

Sorry, wrong conversation.

Well I know the pay was zero, but the mileage to get the Anni Shirts to the post office could have been deductable. Ala, it didn't get over the two percent that I had to cover. In case you wonder, it is part of the 2% misc on the bottom of the 1040 Schedule A, which we can't file anyway until at least 2/14/2011. Blame Congress not your Tax Pro.

I'd screw with them, paper file it. Are they going to send it back?

Gary, that will take longer. The IRS stated, they will process e-filed returns before paper.
I am thinking paper returns won't be looked at for 6-8 weeks. I could be way off, but then I like to be a pessimist in that area.

The UK HMRC online Self Assessment took me most of Sunday to file an incomplete form. Filled in correctly but I could not submit it, and the reasons given had no application for me.

At least they accepted an incomplete one, not in the income and tax figures just the explanation on how it was achieved.

Baaaagggurrr Aaaarrgghh!

Hey this is really interesting, what can you claim for a half eaten chocolate bar as a tip?

More to the point though. If you were advised to put $50 on the favourite at the Kentucky Derby and it lost. Could you claim that as a tip?

can't claim a previously used food item as a gift or gratuity.
a wagered loss is a loss and is deductable in most states.

I believe that on the Federal return it only counts against your winnings. So if your losses exceed your winnings, it is $0 net.

Correct, and not all states have an income tax anyway. I like the Alaskan system. Everyone gets a check.
