Message 1078167 - Posted: 17 Feb 2011, 1:02:51 UTC - in response to Message 1078137.

Just so everyone knows, ATI released a new driver for their GPUs yesterday, version 11.2. So far, I have had ZERO driver restarts when running the multibeam application, even when I am running 2 tasks per GPU on the 6950. This is very good news!!

I am running on Winblowz 7 x64. Just be sure to uninstall your old drivers and SDK before you install the new drivers/sdk or you will have issues.

Thats so true!
It's bad programming that you could not install the new drivers just over the old ones!
I even had to use GPUclean before it worked!!

I had to switch back to one job at a time because there were some strange crashes.

Win7 64 HD6970

I am seeing one glitch though
running a GPU WU and watching a video on youtube is a no no. I completely locks my computer down

I have the same problem with both the 5870 and the 6950. I've just learned to suspend the GPU processing for a bit while I'm watching a video, or watch it on one of the nvidia machines, which really don't have any issues with playing a video while running seti. Odd, isn't it?

my 5850 never killed a WU while I watched a video. This really is odd.

2 all who experience various lags - what period_iterations_num do you use?

For some reason its not using my ati 4650 on my second computer. The app occupies a whole cpu core (0.05 is set in the app_info), the gpu usage stays at 0%, and the completition at 0% too. After an hour i stopped the WU. App info is from the release page, i only deleted the platform line. Am i forgetting something?

try more cause it's the purpose of this setting - to fight with lags.

Most probably this GPU has too small max workgroup size.

Right, it has only 128. Does this mean its useless for the "AP GPU ONLY" app too? I tried the hybrid app once. It works, but its not really using the gpu.

No, only r177 of MB app is affected, AP should run OK.

The Brook-based hybrid application does use the GPU, but only in short bursts and only for a very small percentage of the overall processing time. But unless you have other applications which can make full use of the GPU, it's better than nothing when it comes to speeding up Astropulse on a GPU where the OpenCL application is not an option.

I'm reinstalling the drivers. I'm getting locked up while I'm away from my computer. I attempt to bring it up and the screen stays blank. another thing is the CCC doesnt start with the computer as it should

It looks like somehow the drivers are sensible for overclocking the CPU...!
I had to clock back from 4G to 3.5G before it was stable.
(Or maybe my poor OC-capability)

result oke though;

With 10.12 I could do 2 jobs at a time, but in the processes of upgrading the driver I went back to one to avoid crashes.

I do not trust this driverversion yet....

It turned out to be not driver but new PSU (or some other hardware component, cause in new another host that GPU reported to work w/o driver restarts even with older Catalyst)

You're got:

<message>
Maximum elapsed time exceeded
</message>

According to your Application details for host 5338281 you're only just completed your 10 initial validated tasks, !?!?! but you're also got 30 Consecutive valid tasks!!!!
now the server has scaled your work, it should get better (Edit: maybe), but you'll need to use Fred's Rescheduler to fix any existing work, and new work too,
