We can't forget Fritz Langs Metropolis.For a 1927 silent film it still kicks butt.
A masterpiece of German post-modenism, and an often homage-ed film in its genre. :-)

Unfortunately you can only see the colourized version now.The original is lost.:(
A good bulk of it was lost indeed. Pity, that. But I'm not sure what you mean by "colourized" - Are you referring to Rintaro's メトロポリス? The DVD copy I got is 100% monochrome :-?

Compared to Fritz? Rintaro loses 5 to 1. Great animation, though! :-)

No;but the anime was pretty good.The only version (fritz langs)I saw was colourized.Never seen a monochrome version at all.

Seriously, I didn't know there was a colorized version - It was all shot on black-and-white stock. The copy I have was distributed by Kino Video.

I don't know if either of these qualify for the thread, but I've got to toss Clash of the Titans and Lola Rennt into the list.

OK, I'm done. :)
