As most of you know, the 'pending credits' page failed for some of us a while back. Showed only a blank screen.

I was at a low of around 68,000 pending as the results came in during the Oscar outage, and have now climbed back up to almost 350,000.

This might be a good time to monitor if and when the pages fail for some users, just to try to set a landmark for the failure point, should it occur again.

I suspect that the real failure point will come after a certain number of tasks in the list, rather than at a particular credit value.

If anyone wanting to follow-up Mark's (good) suggestion has a spreadsheet program available, the easiest way to count the tasks in the pending list is to select them all, copy and paste into an empty spreadsheet - see which row you get to!

I am sure you are quite right, Richard.

It's not the credits in the query......it's the number of WUs in the query.
The number of records that has to be searched. And a timeout is, or was reached.

Perhaps the speed of the new servers could change things......or perhaps not.

If there is an issue with it blanking out due to the size of the DB query or the number of items displayed on the page it would be in the code for the frame work of the site. Changing the server won't affect it unless it enables them to up their artificial limits.

We shall see.......
Eric was gonna try to raise the timeout......but that was in the days just before the big outage and server crash.

If anybody sees another failure, let me know, and about what your pendings were about then.

Yeah so it is a limit in the framework of the site. Did he ever up it? I take it he did which is why you are on alert now?

I don't think Eric had time to modify it.......things crashed about the time he and I were having the conversation.

That's why I brought it up again........

Anybody got a failure, please post it ASAP, so we can try to find the failure point.

Message Eric, he should be able to look at the code and tell you where the limit is placed. Now were that limit is placed in seconds versus queries is two different things.

To really get an accurate figure, somebody is going to have to bust upwards through the barrier, then crunch cache offline while their wingmates catch up with them. Should be able to get quite a good 'first re-display' figure that way.
