Another Thing - since 6 hours no AP download possible here. And there should be 750-900 Workunits since 6 hours but - no Splitter running and no Tapes available. The Cricket Graph shows no Spike over 60MBits/s last 14 hours what means no AP downloads. Helli A loooong time ago: First Credits after SETI@home Restart |

since 11:00 UTC been getting error messages are we downloading too much again There's been a few days almost without any AP tapes to split, meaning downloading have gone smoothly, now there's some tapes to split again and that means the bandwidth have been maxed for hours. |

Not just AP - I got a big batch of shorties from the December '09 tapes, too. That always stresses the pipe to max. |

since 11:00 UTC been getting error messages are we downloading too much again That's certainly part of it, apparently the AP "ready to send" hasn't reached its high water mark which would make ap_splitter processes stop producing for awhile. But I think there may also be a shorty storm (high proportion of MB tasks being VHAR) involved. Because those tasks take only about 1/3 the time of midrange or lower, a request for MB work gets three times as many. Those who have recently assigned work might take a look at the estimated times to see if I'm right. I'm guessing based on the facts that "Results received in last hour" is high and tasks are being "Sent" about 3 hours and 15 minutes after they were created. Edit: Ah, I see Richard has already noted one "tape" with many VHARs. One of the changes the project implemented to try to avoid shorty storms was to have splitters each working on different "tape" files when practical, but it seems that doesn't apply to splitters on lando (perhaps because lando has only 4 GB RAM?). So I just now had a work request to SETI to get work, I got some interesting messages: 1/14/2011 6:30:59 PM SETI@home Message from server: No work can be sent for the applications you have selected 1/14/2011 6:30:59 PM SETI@home Message from server: No work is available for SETI@home Enhanced 1/14/2011 6:30:59 PM SETI@home Message from server: No work is available for Astropulse v5 1/14/2011 6:30:59 PM SETI@home Message from server: Your preferences allow work from applications other than those selected 1/14/2011 6:30:59 PM SETI@home Message from server: Sending work from other applications Here's the kicker, I have not changed any of my preferences: Run only the selected applications SETI@home Enhanced: yes Astropulse v5: yes Astropulse v5.05: no If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other applications? yes Funny enough, the server status shows plenty of MB work, but yet it assigned me an AP task. Just thought I'd throw this out there and see if anyone else noticed this. [edit] The other thing is, the application that is supposed to use for running the AP task, is Astropulse_v505 5.05. So I don't know whats going on, but now I just got a MB task assigned too. LOL |

The only thing i dont like is i dont get enough astropulses for my GPU. Even there are a lot ready to send. A friend of mine got around 100 APs on a machine wich needs 90 hours a unit. My GPU needs 2 hours each and i only get 50 in 2 days. BTW crunched over 100 so far. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

It seems workunits/results waiting for db purging is a little behind. Never saw finnished astropulses that long in my task list. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

It seems workunits/results waiting for db purging is a little behind. Matt increased the setting to allow completed results to stay available for 24 hours. That may account for the increase in unpurged WUs. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |
