Over this past weekend we had an disk issue (unrelated to the new servers) which hampered workunit creation. We back to full production at this point, though due to high demand it might be a while until your clients receive new work.

Well.....
Thanks for letting us know, Matt.

Not what the kitties wanted to hear, as at least my 2 best rigs have run out of work.
But, we'll leave them online sniffing for whatever you can send their way.

Meow meow.

Thanks for the update.

Hello;

I was just wondering if the servers were down? I have been able to do any computing in the last few days. Says no work is available. From what I've read, it sounds like this is only temporary?

Thanks :)

I believe this is true. Have no idea how long it will be before MB work will be distributed again.

Wednesday and all the splitters are down yet everything else is working; the original problem in this thread was solved days ago. One host is about to run out of work again. Wonder what's causing it...

Try reading yesterday's technical news (especially the bits about raw data and radar blanking).

Please keep feeding my new GeForce GTX 480 rig (with AMD Phenom II X6 1055T and 16GB DDR3-1333 Mushkin RAM).

Cheers from North Bay, ON, Canada Matt! It's only been, oh... 4 years since we met on my sole visit to UCB. :)

This is clearly the place to post queries regarding SETI and BOINC.

Anyways, I just made a new LINUX boxen and was doing the usual burn/mischief/benchmarking....lol

and sos I went into Term and logged in as SU.

then typed RM* -R dev0

now only the fans work. What gives.

Hiya Mat.

was something important mounted as dev0?
And no, the news is not the place for serious system questions. Please try number crunching.

It's highly unlikely that, with a hundred thousand users or more, and applications which have remained on secure servers since they were released in August 2008, that you computer is the first and (so far as I know) only computer to have detected this virus. It's likely to be a false positive: but you are quite right to take all virus warnings seriously.

The usual advice is to submit an program you are unsure about to the multi-vendor testing site at http://www.virustotal.com/. This will independently test the file against multiple antivirus engines, with detailed results from each antivirus engine. If you are still worried after doing this, please post again.
