Message 1055343 - Posted: 12 Dec 2010, 10:07:54 UTC

After finally getting my new system rebuilt tonight I am now no longer able to download any new CPU or GPU WU. I just waned to make sure it was not just me and some other mistake I had made.

Is there something wrong with the servers tonight in that they are not handling out new WU?

Thanks,

Adam

Yes there is/are a problem(s). No further information at this point in time though, other than you can upload/report completed work - if you can get any to process.

Are the servers still down or is this issue just isolated to my one server? (Since the older XPS is still crunching away.)

Would it help to detach and reattach to the project to force a download or will that cause problems.

Also, can I move WU between servers? I have like 5 days worth pn the XPS and nothing on the 980X system. I didn't know if his would cause a problem moving them if the WU are tagged for a specific system.

Yes, a server went down, according to a message in Technical News, the message is as below.....

FYI, a disk failure on worf (the raw data storage server) which locked up the RAID requiring a cold reboot (and nobody is around/able to get up to the lab to do so). Only public downside is we ran out of work to send. This'll get fixed Monday morning.

Server status page is back up to date. Splitters are all down and there is no work to send right now but at least it is showing progress.

In Matt's tech news post, he referred to Worf as the 'raw data storage server'...
But I'm not quite sure where that fits into things either.
Maybe where the datasets are stored for the splitters to get?

Worf is one of the backend servers all of which arn't listed.

Cheers.

Might be kinda nifty if there was a chart or diagram showing all of the Seti servers and how they interact and are dependent on each other.

It probably would be and then people could actually see how complex the whole system is.

Cheers.

Yes it would
Even listing them all on server status would be nice
I would think such a diagram would explain a lot
But who in the know has the time to do it

In case anyone wasn't aware, from the front page:

Since we're recovering from a failed disk over the weekend, we might as well stop the project and do our usual Tuesday 13 Dec 2010 19:49:12 UTC
outage chores today.

Glad to see you have everything working again. Technology just likes to mess with you, even people in IT get stumped every now and then. Keep up the good work and try not to let any more servers crash if you can! lol.

My older XPS system is still crunching old WU but my new super system still will not download any new WU. Is everything back online and the problem is with my configuration? Or, is there still something down with the servers stopping new WU from being distributed? I'm trying to see where the failure is.

Thanks!
