You forget the whole concept was we donate unused cpu cycle for them to use as they please. This never started as we have a new thing we're giving up our lives for for your entertainment.

Then scrap the whole credit system and don't "keep score". See how many people contribute.

Most of us are geeks, and we take pride in being able to build and configure a system which will be better the your. It is about Compitition.
And SETI recognizes, and feeds on this for increased production and take a little heat when all isn't working well. The relax people in this thread need to relax!

I am curious, how do you flag a poster to be ignored. I recall seeing that a long time ago but can't remember how it is done.

So you want to add someone to the your ignore list and this is your only post in this thread! Sound like your trying to feed the fire. The easiest thing is to not even read this thread.

Disk failure on Worf, caused a raid lockup.

That's what happens when you hire Klingons.

And adding more wood to the fire doesn't help any either. :-)

I got 15 WU's since coming back up, so I'm happy, my processors are happy. Onwards to finding ET!

I am not trying to feed any fire. I asked a simple question, got a prompt answer for which I am grateful.

Seems it is you who is feeding a fire. Please cease and desist.

Matt turned on the splitters about 4 pm Berkeley time (midnight UTC). The link is saturated so downloads won't be as smooth as before Worf's disk failure, but there's a lot of work being sent out.

and your question was off topic, please start your own thread.

and work is flowing as previous poster said. it started with a bunch of resends myself. i was kind of hoping that this wouldn't occur as much with the new servers and a much cleaner database. i guess this is mostly a problem of the download server.

Funny enough all yours have been off topic too, except this one. Guess his new tip may come in handy.

Agreed as it was already mentioned earlier in the thread and Bert just wanted to know the finer details. ;)
Have we gone far enough off topic now? :D

Cheers.

This is true, I digress...

Has anyone been able to download in the last hour or so? It says we have 181,313 results ready to send but boinc is telling me no tasks available.

I am getting units, they are struggling. We are back to overloading the bandwidth. Something needs throttled back.

Thanks to the new servers, they can split them a lot faster than we can download them.

Growing pains.

The in is saturated but the out is not. However I think that may be hindering me from contacting the scheduler. Guess I'll set it on auto and let it fly.

The "In" and "Out" are backwards on that graph. We are hitting 90+mb on the outbound on a 100mb link, so it's definitely at max :)

"Every Tuesday morning (Pacific time) we begin a 3 day data distribution outage to focus on science processing and development plus any needed systems maintenance. The upload/download servers will be offline during this time. The web site (including the forums) will only be offline during the database maintenance and backup portion of the outage. On Friday, you may experience connectivity issues as the servers catch up with demand."

Robert: Have you tried World Community Grid during the outages? If not, why not? Usually WCG servers are online and the purpose of the project is very humanitarian.

They have already completed that maintenance. They stated while they were repairing the raid they were going to go ahead and perform the tues. maintenance.

The "in" and "out" depend on your reference point. If you are looking at it from the router then In and Out look backwards but they are not. Stand at the router and see what is in and what is out. Into the router is out from the nodes (you) and out from the router is into the outside world node(s).

If you were to study routers you would eventually find the confusion in terms not so confusing. Just a matter of getting used to it.
