Mine is €433,85(+) per 2 month, with so called, night rating, since I live in the center of a small town and have no gas*, not allowed, considered too dangerous, but had to go to court, to claim my rights! (The whole, 175 year old building, is gas heated (C.H.)4 heaters placed on top of the building, equivalent too 4 x 100KW) I've just passed the 10MegaWatt/hour border in 5 years. *Electric stove 3x 240/400V (triple fase)7500Watt/hour, AC unit 850Watt, BOILER 2500Watt, 3 QUAD's + 4 CUDA cards, 1250Watt when all in use.(+ 250Watt if all 3 Monitors are on, 400Watt with TV on.) Whitout SETI WU's 150Watt less, Einstein hardly uses the GTX480 (2 -4% load) (GTS250 is just a bit faster doing Einstein, GPUgrid only runs OK on GTX480) ((+) 35% off, night rating.) Only rig, a Q6600 (2550MHz)+ (ATI) 4850 + 5870, doing MW, Collatz Con. and DNETC atm., uses 500Watt.(Use outside air {+4C} to cool the CAL cards) ![]() |

Current monthly power bill for 4 rigs, mainly GPU crunching is $200 It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues ![]() ![]() |

I don't pay anything for power since electricity is included in my rent. I only have one computer crunching and it is an older quad with no GPU so, even if I had to pay it would be less than $10 per month. And I am not saving any electrons with SETI being down since I crunch other projects too. Pure mathematics is, in its way, the poetry of logical ideas. Albert Einstein |

now my at 62€ per Month = 744€ Year 2008/2009 was at 4200 KWh per year 2009/2010 was at 3200 KWh per year this is for a single user home , only my cruncher eat the most |

My power bill for October 8 to November 8 was $16.82 of which $15.11 is the basic monthly service charge. In this area, NYSEG only reads the meters on alternate months and bills monthly on an estimate basis when they don't read. The month was estimated at only 8 kwh, which is an echo from a bad reading in September 2009 which caused subsequent readings and estimates to be tiny. In a more practical vein, I probably used slightly more Propane for heating after S@H work became scarce. I haven't worked out the relative costs of electric versus propane heat, nor the firewood for my woodstove. I'd rather have the electric heating with a S@H byproduct, though. Joe |

I'm ashtonished to see how much some of you are willing to pay for crunching SETI. Heating the house at wintertime of course is ok. But how about heating the house, and at the same time cooling it with the A/C, incomprehensible! I've got down-SETI electrical bills at 15e/month, when SETI is up it costs twice that. |

But how about heating the house, and at the same time cooling it with the A/C, incomprehensible! Last night it was in the 30's F, and I had the window partially open because my rig was throwing off too much heat. It may be strange, and I agree with that, but I love doing it. KenzieB: You just pop up a couple of new rigs, boot them up to crunching. Having electrics included in your rent, maybe your landlord doesn't figure it out. It could be some other tenant? |

That's cool, Steve. Especially if you have got the airflow, when needed. Here in Finland, I'm currently doing Einstein - twist that saying if you want - and happily co-heating my flat with abt. 200W output. Outside is -7 celcius. Nice. |

Count me in the camp of people using their crunching computers to heat a room. My machines were idle due to the project's troubles, but it got cold last week all of a sudden, so I attached to some new projects to give them something to do until our central heater gets fixed... |

The stove has been co-heating my apartment today.. have not heard the heat come on. No weather report handy but.. chilly outside. The oven should roast me out of here tomorrow. Einstein helps.. But Seti helps more. <edit> there it is 35F here. 3 over freezing. Janice |

Many may not agree, but in my honest opinion, it is not practical to run CPU only crunching any more. We NEED that ATI GPU app here ASAP. Seti get more work done, we spend less on electricity to supply that. You're thinking in terms of electric cost per credit. However, that's not how you're billed every month; it's power * time. I'm pretty sure CPU+GPU power > CPU power. |

As I can qualify for a free 1-3KW Photovoltaic system which will cut the cost of My electrical by up to 75%. subsidized solar doesn't make sense, if it can't be done at full cost why do it? ![]() ![]() |

Ok. We are getting majorly off topic here. VB, why don't you start a tread on us going green with the help of the goverment? Pluto will always be a planet to me. ![]() Seti Ambassador Not to late to order an Anni Shirt |

I use seti for my primary heat source in the winter... When I have everything going I usually end up with a $125 to $150 a month power bill. If I get down to two units crunching, like in the summer I can drop down to $85. Ever since the Great Outage *lol* it's been kind of tough to keep the house warm when it gets down into the 20's (F). Some projects seem to have a limited amount of WU. I think my cost is about 7.9 cents per Kw. If I take a lot of long warm showers and bake a lot of pizza, I'm sure that can have a cumulative effect too. |
