"The project is down while we remodel our database servers."
Does someone know when is going to happen?
I'm so looking forward to it !!!

The server's arrived today, so we gotta give them time to get them set up and running. I would guess probably 2 weeks, give or take a few days.

I bet this is as accurate as a dart board.

It will be ready when it is ready, the boxes have arrived, and installing them is not instantaneous. Nor is configuring them. Nor is programming them. New servers may include new Operating systems, and a lot of work from there. Or may not.

But it definately will take some time. "Couple weeks" is probably a good guess.

It's even worse than that. Plug one of these into the wrong UPS, and you could trip the UPS breaker, or worse the entire wall circuit. So while one of us is doing software config and install, another will be updating the power management plan for the server closet so we don't put too much load in one place. Doesn't help that the building didn't get the best power distribution design for this sort of thing.

How much power do you expect each server to pull under full load?

Now you got me laughing, and it's OK, because I'm not in my office. It gets hard to explain why random laughter comes out of my office from time to time...

I was curious because my rig configured as it is now, will pull about 900 watts under full SETI crunch.
