Hello platium! I just started my second beer, and with that strength, I'm feeling it quickly. What a beautiful night to drink beer. I have the whole week off, and I'm in a great mood. Drink up my friends!

Since when do the brits leave the pub? Even when there was last orders there were lockins...

Reminds me I've got a dark wheatbeer waiting in the fridge.

Oh... you've hit a week spot for me. Would your husband enjoy some company tonight?

I am working in London all this week, so I let the train take the strain, means I can have a night cap or two without a problem. Makes a nice change.

Back to being all over the south of England next week so making the most of it.

Bernie.

Giblets simmering.. cranberry sauce started.. Making progress. Went through some Blonde Bock. Now working on some Marzen.. both courtesy of the Gorden Biersch Brewery of San Jose, California. Honestly after two beers I can not taste much of a difference. The Marzen is darker. And both are good.

Should keep me in holiday spirits until I can get the pre-stuffing made.

Good evening! Tonight I've just been sticking to a couple of run of the mill domestic beers. Those Chimay's I had last night were quite strong, but very good. Every few months, a situation just lines up where a couple of pints of fine brew is just perfect. In the monasteries, where they make these ales, the monks are given an allotment of ale every day. I forget what the allotment was, but it was way more than I drank last night. With that much, I'd have to give up being a monk after only a day.

Well, most of my chores are done, I will start cooking the turkey in an hour or two, so it's time for some Thanksgiving day beer! Also, here are some flowers for the ladies.

Ah, a beer thread. If there's one thing I like as much as SAH and BOINC...

I sing the praises of U-Brew aka brew-on-premises. Of course, your mileage may vary given the skill of the brewmeister, but I've been frequenting one for several years now and find it perfect.

For those unfamiliar with this, you pay for (reusable) bottles, the brewmeister makes your beer in a keg on the premises with your minimal involvement (some places have laws that you must at least pitch the yeast) and you bottle it yourself with onsite equipment.

Why I love it:

1) It's phenomenally good. Most make all-natural four-ingredient ("Reinheitsgebot") unpasteurized beers, as fresh and tasty as beer can get. If the brewmeister is skilled it's pure heaven and better than what you can get at the beer store, due to bring absolutely fresh and not being pasteurized which kills a lot of the flavour.

2) It's inexpensive. I pay about $1.10 a pint for the best beer I've ever had, which is 30-40% less than even crappy chemically domestic blah commercial beer costs. The reusable bottles (plastic, never glass as they can explode when being filled) can be rinsed and refilled hundreds of times.

3) It's customizable. Most places have dozens of recipes, all manners of ales, lagers, darks, lights and exotics that you can't buy in the beer store (ie low-carb beer for reduced weight gain.) Plus since it's made on premises to order, your brewmeister will usually be happy to tailor your beer to your taste.

For anyone in the Toronto area, the one I like is called Mister Beer U-Brew and has locations in Scarborough and Thornhill. Should you frequent there please tell Nick and/or Nick Jr. that Kevin sends his highest regards. I'll be bottling this weekend and the anticipation is almost too much.

Cheers! :^)

finally time for a brew after most of the day cooking and storing leftovers

I have a bottle of wine chilled for today, but not the energy to do good damage to it.
