I would like to throw out the name ALF, from the old TV show. I hope this does not offend the kittens, he was always trying to catch the family cat but never caught him. (If I remember cats were a delicusy on his home planet). Anyway isn't that what we are looking/listening for Alien Life Form(s).

J. Mileski: Anise was HOT... not quite a feature we want in a server occupying a broom closet with finicky AC.

edit: OH AND HAPPY CAPS LOCK DAY! ^_^

<sigh> What a bunch of yung'uns. You make me feel so old.

The new server will be big, powerful, designed to operate without human intervention, and kick a$$.

I vote for Ellie--lead character in Contact because it's some weird cosmic destiny that enough money was raised for this server. :)

GORT

I always viewed Gort as a threat, the power to destroy the world, barely contained. Klaatu would be the best character from that movie to suggest as a server name, I think....

actually GORT was protection and nothing more. It was mankind that was dangerous. THus the morality play in the movie.

I propose/vote for:

Neo (the server is New and maybe "The Chosen One" ;) )
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neo_(The_Matrix)

Clarke (not Arthur - reminds me of King Arthur and some animation characters (e.g. Arthur Pendragon (Shrek)))
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthur_C._Clarke

Albert
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Einstein

and of course ALF :)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ALF_(TV_series)

- ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :)

Klaatu was Michael Rennie's character's name. Perhaps you should review the movie again. He was the voice of reason and concern. I vote Klaatu.

From Wikipedia -

"Klaatu barada nikto" is a phrase originating from the 1951 science fiction film The Day the Earth Stood Still. "Klaatu" is the name of the humanoid alien protagonist in the film. Klaatu (Michael Rennie) commanded Helen Benson (Patricia Neal) that, were anything to happen to him, she must utter the phrase to the robot Gort. In response, Gort relented from destroying the Earth and resurrected Klaatu from death.
