Avatar is the name....... Oscar......well, he is the name of the future DB server....... He has no siblings, except in name......Leo and Ty......... But I would not nominate them for server names.....but....... You might name some of your kitties after them......\ Leo and Ty...... "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |

How about Phoenix? The mythical bird that returned from the dead in a burst of flame and a hearty hi ho.....oh wait, that's something else again!! :-) Before you have a Phoenix, you have to have something that's come back from the dead.........and so far, nothing from the closet has shown much life yet........ How about Phoenix? The mythical bird that returned from the dead in a burst of flame and a hearty hi ho.....oh wait, that's something else again!! :-) Wouldn't re-incarnation count, if Mork came back from the dead as a newer more powerful enity? You know like a Phoenix on steroids!! |

My suggestion would be Arthur. In honor of the famous author and futurist Arthur C. Clarke. Currently can't think of anyone who might have greater merit to have a server named after him. Who the hell is General Failure and why is he reading my harddisk?¿ |

Since someone suggested female names and dealing with science/sci-fi: Starsha (good ole Starblazers / Yamato) Ripley (Aliens) or Ellen (since her name is Ellen Ripley) Please no more Mork & Mindy references ... sorry but I hated that show growing up - would have rather had the president on those nights. Wouldn't mind Eridani, which has lots of references besides being a star. Though truth be told, I'll just be happy with new working servers no matter their name. I gotta fever and the only prescription is more cowbell. |

I don't think any vote for Sagan from any member of the Sagan team is really valid. Heck lets just get the team with the most members and stuff the ballot box. Lets keep the names to Non-team names. Heck I say Azimov is a very good name In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

I'd like to propose "Lise" as a tribute to a woman who has fascinated me since I first learned a little about her; Lise Meitner. Lise was a physicist who never fully received the recognition she deserved in life. She broke several barriers for her gender and broke much ground in the field of nuclear physics. For all that she was a first rate scientist she also seems to have remained a truly decent human being in a competitive field where humanity sometimes seems to suffer. If the new server is to be named as a tribute to anyone she would make a great candidate. |

I know I already voted for Mearth, but I just thought of TK421 as well. It might not be very auspicious, being the Storm Trooper who was first absent from his post, then had a bad communicator... |
