I checked my iMac when I woke up this morning and when I saw that it's uploads had gone through I made certain that the other 2 finished their uploads as well.

Now all we need it some work, all 3 still have some but the CUDA machine is out of SETI CUDA.

Do you mean that you are using a hack to provoke a resend of lost tasks, or that there is some option that I can't see? I've got seven ghosts that I'd like to regain.

No hack here....
The Frozen One is totally out of work. My 20 were sent in response to the normal work requests.

I've got 38 ghosts I've been hoping would get resent. I got stuck with them on the 1st and they don't time out until the middle of next month. Two weeks is long enough, I guess I will finish my last 4 GPU tasks and do a detach.

Are they new work just sent out? The replica database is around an hour behind so they might show up in a little while.

already have 1 machine on at "limit on taks in progress"...

how about switching it off and letting us fill our caches up before the next outage...

How about letting us little guys get a few first. My Seti cache is down to 0 on both my systems and I only need 15 or 20 to get me through the outage. Don't be so greedy there are over 100,000 other systems out there that also need work.

Don't know which of your machines you are talking about but..........

2 of your machines show nearly 5000 wu on board. Allowing some for ghosts, just one of your machines has enough work to last for the entire 3 day outage for all 4 of my machines. I do about 4000 total for the 3 day outage.

How about leave some for us..........

Not sure what's happening, but inbound traffic is way up. DDoS attack? When everyone hits the per machine limit the inbound traffic ramps up, but outbound is still pegged & i expect it'll be another day till everyone hits the limits.

To be honest with you, I wonder if something in the way the servers are configured right now is not the cause of the problem.
I am having an extreme amount of difficulty getting downloads to complete. Not quite the same as usual when the bandwidth is pegged. I am able to get many downloads to start when hitting the retry button, but they either error immediately or start to fail one by one with HTTP errors. Usually the problem is more one of connecting in the first place.
All these dropped connections and retries must be taking a toll on the available bandwidth.
I have enough work assigned by the schedulers, but can't get it downloaded to process.

EDIT....
And that inbound bandwidth is NOT uploading/reporting.....the server status page shows only 30K results reported in the last hour. Yet the inbound is almost as high as right after startup when several hundred K of uploads and reporting was going on.

thought about the cricket graph: in the past the inbound+outbound bandwidth was fixed at 100 Mbps. Right now that is not the case. when did this change occur? or is there a problem indicated?

Message 1042648 - Posted: 16 Oct 2010, 12:51:12 UTC

Something strange is happening on my rig. I have about 20 wu's, and my DCF is set to 1. I set my cache to 9 days, and after repeated update attempts, I get not reporting or requesting tasks. What could be causing my rig to not want tasks when everything I have learned about DCF and flops values is right where it should be? I just can't get it to request tasks. Any suggestions?

I am not absolutely sure, but if they are in 'project backoff' status, that may inhibit work requests.
Try punching the retry button and see if you can get them to complete...it may not be easy right now.
I suspect if you can get them to complete, or at least hang in 'downloading' status while a work request is being made, Boinc will request some more work.

I feal a little better, as it just requested GPU work. It got refused due to traffic, but that's OK. I just want it to request work.

That you Mark! I think you may be right. It was in a downloading status when it did request work. I'll keep trying.
