And I would like to thank everybody yet again....
Those who have been continuing to find a way to make donations of what they can afford are appreciated as much as those who could and did donate larger amounts.

Your efforts all add up, no matter how modest they may seem.

Meow meow to you all.

Just for an idea.. i looked at one manufacture of a mork-ish machine(newer, some upgrades, 4x6 core xeons, tons of memory) and first glance was in the neighborhood of $20,000. Now in a perfect world(which we do not live in)
There would be the 1 server for a Master, an equal for the replica,
and a full set of every part on the shelf.

So my guess this perfect world would be about $50K. With that in mind, you really REALLY should give credit to what they are accomplishing in that lab with what they have. And.. Setizens.. the donations are amazing. If you can..
please keep them up. If you can not.. Well I myself am among the unemployed
so I certainly understand. There are many that have managed to chip in on
fixed incomes. And there are many that have chipped in "more than reasonable".

I repeat.. awesome folks. Each and every one.

I took a look myself and was above $30,000.00 before tacking on warranty/maintenance contract, UPS, tape backup, and an applique for the front panel depicting Van Gogh's Starry Night. :)

And yes, much thanks to all that have donated.

Some good info for people who donate...

To see exactly how much the Seti program actually gets, take 2.5% off of your donation. These are the fees and overhead UCB charges.

FYI for credit sake, this came from the Gift Administration Help Desk at UCB.

2.5% off is fine I think, thought it would have been more.

That sounds like the credit card merchant fee!

Are you sure the person you talked to actually understood your question?

I believe the 11% that the campus takes from the donations is correct.

And quite a bargain at that......
It would cost significantly more if the project had to front all of the costs they incur up front. Much more.

Make sure to direct your Gift to go to SETI or it goes into the general college fund to be divided equally between Departments if I remember correctly.

Thank you Francis.

Has anyone got a total lately? We've got to be way up there! Great job everybody.

Ok, according to my very weak math skills I figured $11,820.00. That's fantastic!
