Sigh...... I know that many of you are tapped out. Which I certainly do understand. So am I. But apparently mork is not cooperating, and a replacement must be considered. The project is shopping around for somebody that will proffer some serious hardware for a budget price out of pity or perhaps some good PR. They may have to scrap the plans for Oscar as previously spec'd in order to purchase TWO new servers. Can you find it in your Seti hearts to chip in yet again? If you cannot, I certainly understand. But I find that I must ask. I will start it out here. The kitties' kibble bowl is kinda barren, but they kicked it over and found a few kibbles hidden beneath. Forthwith, the kitties have donated $50.00....... It's not much, but it's all they have right now. Maybe some could donate even $10.00 dollars to help out. The kitties have eked out their last bit of kibble for this............ Thank you for your gift of $50.00 via Visa on 10/08/2010. I must get some sleeps now with the kitties. Please keep the project in your thoughts if you are among the faithful. Contribute if you can, keep the project in your thoughts if you cannot. Meow meow, and goodnight. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |

Unless you've heard something the rest of us haven't That's not exactly the way Jeff posted in tech news earlier http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=61669&nowrap=true#1039257 |

True, but Eric also posted in that thread http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=61669&nowrap=true#1038940 The memory swap on mork didn't work, probably because at least one of the replacement DIMMS was bad. Jeff has suggested some more detailed memory tests next time mork is down. We're also considering replacing the power supplies in case the hangs are caused by power supply glitches. |

Oh, my.... I just got home from making a kitty food run for Lori's Callie gurl..... Special K/D diet.... And what do I see? Another outpouring of generous donations from the Seti faithful... Thank you to MJS, SciMan, Mr. DK, Jason Gee Whiz, da Geek who plays, and Niteryder. If I can still add correctly, that brings us to... Drum roll, please..... $750.00!!! And yes, those tens and twentys add up quickly. So please do not feel shy about doing the little bit, if that's what you have to offer. Your show of support is as appreciated as anyone else's.
