He was much more than a kitty..........
Almost human.

He left a hole in us that can never be healed, you see.

Some cats are like that. He was one of those cats.

We miss him still.

We do.

And that's why I asked for the new server......another of my kitties......to be named after him.

If it is not to be so, I am not offended.
But it would be a wonderful thing, you see.

Oscar was taken from us, far too soon.

But whenever you came up to him, he would answer.
And give you that classic Maine Coon chirp.

Such so should be the new server.......whenever you should ask it.

Remember the Main Coon chirp.........

Lol! My cat hated me! Everytime I'd walk into the room, she'd give me a look like... "WTF are you doing here?", then jet under a chair.

My wife... my kids... they were OK in her book. But me? I couldn't even drop some canned tuna into a dish and she'd watch me warily until I left the room.

May she rest in peace. She died when I was in the hospital for a fracture in my ankle. It was only weeks before that I had noticed she was starting to bond with me a bit. But she was 17 years when she passed on. Poor thing couldn't even find (or make it to) the litter box, so she'd make a deposit on my wife's clean clothes if we had them in a basket ready to be folded.

I think Eric agrees with the new name.......but, of course, he is not the only one in command.

Elder kitties do that when the get a little lax in their latter years.......

I should forgive my kitties wherever they choose to poop when they get old.
And pray that my caretakers do the same when I get to be their age.........many, many kitty years from now.

You have to realize that at 15-16yo, they are about 90 something in our terms.
And every day they have left to share with you is something very special.

When they look up at you with those big eyes, there is more meaning there than some of you realize.

Squirrel loves me more now than she has ever done before, and I her.

I know it's silly, but Oscar the Maine Coon is still very much missed by Lori and I. Having lost him in his prime due to cancer was very sad.

So having the new server named in his honor and memory has a special place in my heart.

Thank you Matt, and whoever else was involved in making the final decision.

I'm really pleased about the name of the new 'server-to-be'. I now promise that I won't try to predict what the Kitty-man would like to happen, at any time in the future. Aside from feminine wile and intuition (a convenient clause [not claws] that we use at times), that is! Credit where it is due, Mark, watching the message boards for the 'fund raiser' was like watching a 'Tele-thon'.
