Is SETI-Beta taking uploads ? It's been down for a while, maybe they're letting it catch up.

probably someone in the lab watching cute kittens on youtube. Or playing Halo.

But with ~ 18 Mbits/sec traffic, this are HD-videos.. right? ;-D

Or a 'LAN-game-party'? :o)

At those hours... I doubt a lan party. More likely a janitor playing chat roulette.

Well, I think the server closet used to be a janitor's closet........perhaps they forgot.

Seems that once in a while they plugged the vac in there too.

Nope, no Seti Beta uploads aren't going throgh, and neither are scheduler requests,

It could be that Boinc Alpha is on their new Server and is at the moment using Seti's Link for uploads and downloads,

or Seti could be transfering work to/from offsite storage.

I remember reading that regardless of when the link would be hooked up, SSL would then have gigabit, but S@H would still use a configurable limit of 100mbit instead of saturating the link. At least this way, other people in SSL can get data up and down the hill without much trouble.

That's pretty much what my recollection is as well, although I have not found the post where the discussion took place.

This is all I can find:
In brighter news, the gigabit link project got a kick in the right direction. Short story: turns out the whole lab wants a gbit connection to campus and suddenly has some discretionary funds for this. So we might partially piggy-back on that bandwidth. Anyway, the increased-bandwidth patient still has a pulse. Of course, we haven't really our own 100Mbit ceiling too much lately, so this is hardly an emergency at the moment.

and then..

The lab is also getting a gbit link to the world in July so the slow transfers to/from these archives will no longer be a bottleneck. Note this link is for the whole lab and our SETI specific data link will remain at 100MBit. Still, it's an improvement.

Well why wouldn't they?

IF they server status page can be trusted, the up and download servers are still offline.......
What were you expecting?

It's 7:50 am in Berkeley.

Well, then - why are the Cricket graphs showing incoming data at 17-20Mb/sec? Isn't that supposed to be US uploading? And it's been showing that rate for several hours now...

yes, I looked on network load graph, saw that upload peak already passed and tried.

Well, then, what IS uploading at approx. 17-20Mbits/sec since midnight, if not user uploads?

Well that was easy. First work request after allowing communications again.. reported 9 tasks, and got 11 in return. Cache is full now.
