Then you need to backup your Boinc folder with a archive program Please be precise when giving advice like this. Backing up your BOINC folder won't do any good. That's where the program files of BOINC reside. You will need to backup the BOINC DATA directory. Default places: Windows 98/SE/ME: C:\Windows\All Users\BOINC\ or C:\Windows\Profiles\All Users\BOINC\ (*) Windows 2000/XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\BOINC\ (*) Windows Vista/Windows 7: C:\ProgramData\BOINC\ (*) Linux: wherever you unpack it/BOINC/ Macintosh OS X: /Library/Applications Support/BOINC/ (*) This directory may well be hidden, so either put the path to it directly into Windows Explorer, or instruct Windows Explorer to show hidden files and folders. The path to the BOINC Data directory shows in the messages when you start up BOINC Manager. Although there is a bug in BOINC, when you use Scandinavian characters (ö or ø) in the directory name, that it won't show it in BOINC Manager/Messages. |

This was posted by Ghost in Lunatics forum, maybe it will help you... No it's not necessary to clear out your cache before using the installer, but it is the safest PROUD MEMBER OF Team Starfire World BOINC |

Thanks. No it's about the app_info file and if you have the correct <plan_class> in place. If you installed the previous lunatics program you should be good to go... I think... |

Thanks. So there is no way to change wu file names to match new install? Russ Proud member of the half bill club! |

First exit Boinc. Then you need to backup your Boinc folder with a archive program like 7-zip. Then unplug your Internet connection, or disable the net card driver. Install the update and start Boinc to see if all works, if not then exit Boinc and restore the backup. |

Crunchers, There are several threads that refer to backing up files in case a fermi install is the wrong number (ie. 8,9,10) and discards all of your current GPU wu's. What is the best way to mass file name change, how is it done, and what specifics need to be changed? Thanks, Russ Proud member of the half bill club! |
