"Eco-dyeing" workshop photos, as promised...

Fabrics (photos above) were bundled and wrapped around various leaves, twigs, flowers, rusty metal scraps (nails etc), and red & brown onion skins - then dyed in a pot with gum leaves, bark, and rainwater.

This sample was simply whole flowers and petals placed between two layers of cloth and hammered (with an ordinary hammer) to release the colour.

Anyone seen some strong Java around. I keep falling asleep and it's the middle of the afternoon here?

Yesterday was my last day at school for the year...no more until 3rd Feb 2011.

Wow, I am so happy - one year down, only three to go :-)

No more Latin
No more French
Nor more sitting on a hard board bench

If the teachers interfere
then knock them down and box their ear
If the Gardener tries to fight
blow them up with dynamite

Much as a fruit bat might like that
It's the catching of you that is where it's at.
But, no worries will we say,
If you want, we can wait another day?

new subject!

It looks like the thread is nearly repleat.
So, I expect to see it being complete
some time soon, over the next 24 hours.
But we need to avoid the April showers.

Even as soon as noon tomorrow (12.00 UTC)

Instead of spending the evening
turning words into rhymes,
I spent my time
turning plants into dyes,
On a cooker outside
so not to stink up the house,
Cotton, plants, and rusty rail spikes
have transformed (almost) into a blouse...

Almost = not yet sewn up!

Bedtime here, goodnight :-)

Magenta and Monday are fast asleep.
So, there is no vigil to keep.
Now we all wait in excitement,
for the photos of Magenta's enlightenment.

Hi guys. Sadly my camera broke, so for the moment I won't be able to start our gallery thread where people can post their paintings or other artwork if they feel like it. I could try with the webcam but that seems a bit difficult. If I can afford a new camera or repair my old one then we can start the thread. Grts:)

friday has come
and let it be said
open your eyes
let the poems be read
the heart on display
is naked and shy
waiting for joy
to finally arrive
