Hi all....
am trying fabric dyeing for the first time :-0

our pasta pot is on the stove filled with bubbling, dark red water...with a chiffon top I made at school clamped between two squares of timber to (hopefully) create a Japanese type of 'relief' dyeing "shibori" i think it is called.

anyway we'll see how it turns out...will post a pic!

Thanks heaps for your comments :-)

...the colour comes out that way because I folded the garment up, and then sandwiched it between two rectangular pieces of timber - which were slightly smaller than the folded fabric - thus the dark bits were fully exposed to the dye, whilst the lighter bits were between the timber, so not as exposed to the dye. It was simmered for an hour in the dye, and then rinsed out...

What colour did the wood boards go, and will this affect the next dying (a pearlescent blue)?
