No the spray can be a deterrent if used repeatedly at appropriate times.

Agreed, spray bottles (set to stream) are a great deterent. For some reason the cat gets angry at the water and never associates it with the person holding the bottle.(irritating cats directly can turn your shoes into cat boxes and various other evil forms of revenge)

The cats simply learn "if I do this I get wet. I do not like wet."

A Cat and a Raccoon, Both are not too camera shy, Nice Pic there Soft^spirit.

No kidding. What a great photo! You won't see that very often.

Thanks to Angelas hospitality .. even let me borrow her cat! ;) Oh.. And Uli's grapes!

I have seen cats and raccoons peacefully co-exist, as well as cats and skunks. When it gets down to the last bit of kibble though, all bets are off.

My bet is that the Cat might win there, But then the Cat has the armament for battle.

If they fight they both lose.

You don't know Grace, A little water in lots of drops does nothing as She has a thick fur coat, The kitchen sprayer has some effect as does the shower head in the master bathroom, The sprayer I use is a recycled anti-scratch bottle as that's all I have and It has no stream setting or off setting, Multiple sprays aimed near and around the area where She was scratching at under the bed is better than a stream as It acts like a shotguns scatter shot, Except It's not lethal. I do like Grace, Just not Her habits, I also don't mind sleeping, Just not in the Day.

Dollar store.. spray bottle, 1 dollar with adjustable nozzle. Or empty windex bottle. Adjust nozzle to a stream. aim for face.

Also cats are nocturnal by nature, they want to play and explore at night. Some people put cats out at night for this reason. You could try evicting from your bedroom at night. But you need to find a peaceful resolution to it. And we can not do that for you over the internet, just provides bits and pieces. They help more if you are not too dismissive of them.

Here's an interesting critter.

It doesn't breathe fire despite it's name.

Ten Mammels and three inside, the rest outside. Maybe it is time to open a kitty door for Grace.

Not much point in a pet door right now since you are moving soon. Glad the bathroom lockup worked. Now follow up with the water and the stern no if she goes back to whatever you don't want her doing. Don't forget to praise her when she does good too.

Always remember that she will have you trained exactly like she wants. Cats have been training their humans for centuries. :)

This is sooo true. While a stern talking to can work for a dog, to a cat it is more likely to get a glare meaning "We shall see about this my furless food bringer".

Looking in to see whether there is a pic
of the critters we all love to see.
No, the disappointment is just a trick,
for when one is posted with a cup of tea.

Discovered this week that my cat of 11 years "Spitty" had a womb infection, as she lives totally indoors and I inherited her I never got her spayed, and this can happen. Rush to the vet, operation, and me feeling lost and emotional. I live on my own and she has been my companion for the last 11 years.

Wednesday night was weird, alone in my flat. Amazing how they can get to you!!

Spitty last year.

She seems to have made a good recovery from the op, but I have to give her an anti-biotic pill twice a day, so I am not her favourite person right now, and it upsets me to have to force her to swallow it. Anyone have good ideas to get a small cat to take a pill??

Bernie.

The way we get pills in to any of our dogs is to put the pill in the middle of a lump of hard cheese (Cheddar) or a a part of a sausage (skinless is what they like)

Freeze the pill in the middle of a lump of meat and it is **guaranteed** to go into a dog. The only trick is to ensure it goes into the right dog.

Getting a pill into a cat is **much** more difficult. When I was growing up we had to go on many a search for the pill that we knew did not go into the cat.

Spitty is so beautiful! So sorry to hear she has been unwell, but glad to hear she is on the mend.

As for pilling a cat, I recommend that you ask a neighbor in to help you. When Eric and I have to pill a cat, it generally takes one of us to hold the cat on a flat surface and the other to pop the pill in and hold kitty's mouth closed until we feel her swallow. Even then we are sometimes surprised that although the cat swallowed, the pill did not go down and gets ejected after we release our hold!

And you need to wear leather gloves if you want to have any skin left on your hands.

I saw two houses today, One is not for Me as It's a fixer(USDA says no to fixers, So I'll not post the ugly pics) and the Other is a short sale for $59,900.00 and It's ready to move into, So all I have to do is print out 2 statements(@ 4 pages per statement) and send in the documents and the $24.00 money order as requested by the USDA RD(Rural Development) and I'll be on My way to getting a mortgage Directly from them. The place has no pool(good), It has 1141sqft, It has white walls inside and It has Dark Green Carpet that's in excellent shape, It has a remote controlled garage door, Tile floor and countertops, It has a cement tile roof and looks move in ready.

Click on the bottom two for a larger size, Sorry their from the Realtors Car, But at the time one of the owners wasn't home. What do You guys/gals think?

Ok I have one more picture, Sorry about the detail and the size, I edited a lot of the unimportant details, This place has a covered rear patio, See the area I outlined in RED.

This is I hope Graces and My new home. Opinions?

I hope you can afford it.
