Welcome back, Mark!

I'm trying to get the full total from reading the thread. It's easier than figuring it out from the database since there's no way to separate these donations from others (Other than the $1000 donations). I think that it's $9000 including the donations of less than $1000. Can anyone check my math?

Where it ends up will set the amount of RAM that comes with it.

Thanks for all your donations!

Eric,

Your math looks good to me! $9K exactly.

I see Mark's original $1K offer + 6 extra $1K (62466, 62467, 62468, 62470, 62472, 62764) + soft^spirit cheque for $1K + $200 + $400 *2 (62603, 62695, 62698).

Mark, I second the new server be named Oscar!

Ditto, Oscar is a good name.

Ah ha. I was right about the possible name. Nice to see Mark back, too. If the current 'protocol' is to name servers on a Sci-Fi theme, thats easy....Oscar as in Oscar Goldman or the Oscar as per the old cartoons in the 60's (Astronut?). I can also remember that earlier this year there was a cat called Oscar which was, I think, nick-named The Bionic Cat, due to it having it's (back?) legs replaced with prosthetics following some sort of accident. However, yes, it is up to SSL, in the end.

I must say, I'm hugely impressed with the raising of that amount of money. Not just one server....but two! Good job its not my cash though - I'd wait for the sales, or look for a 'buy one, get one free' offer ! lol

I'll throw my mighty support behind "Oscar" as well.

And if you need a "sci-fi" tie in try this - Oscar J. Friend
sci-fi author from the 40s-60s.

Or maybe because servers can be so cranky.....Oscar (the Grouch)
might work as well

OK, Seti friends.......
It's me, the ol' kittyman at it again.

The new server specs have been announced.

And I would like to propose another little fund drive.
There is an option for extending the standard 3 year warranty to 6 years with next day on site service.

It costs $210.00 extra, plus another $427.00 for a spares kit.
$637.00........I think it's worth it.

I will not put a time limit on it, but if a few of you folks will come up with $537.00, your friend the kittyman will finish it off with another $100.00 donation.

What say ye?

Meow meow.

I am not ignoring.. but on Jeff's new server thread there is a total of 13,000..
and scraped together 10,000 to work with.

So I am waiting to see if we need to push it back up to get it delivered.

Well.....this is an add-on.
If somebody wishes to donate and earmark it here for the server itself rather than the warranty/spares upgrade I think we can keep that separate. I think somebody had also posted a suggestion in Jeff's thread about possibly upgrading the drives from 1TB to 2TB.

$437.00 to go for the warranty/spares package.
